TRD Skid Plate painting it Black. What type of paint would be best?

So having a Black 4Runner I am thinking an essentially white TRD Skid Plate is going to stand out like a sore thumb. So I was thinking about painting one black. Does anyone know what kind of paint is used on these plates?
Seeing as it is on the underside of the vehicle I would like the paint to adhere to the surface nicely because I really do not want to be messing with it a whole lot. So would anyone have any idea what type of paint is used on these things?
I thought I would get actual auto paint and use my spray gun to do the work and using the following:
• Lacquer CAN be applied over Lacquer
• Enamel CAN be applied over Enamel
• Enamel CAN be applied over Lacquer
• Lacquer CANNOT be applied over Enamel
I am wondering which type to use for this little project.

I was considering powder coating mine. Then I reconsidered because the 1st rock bash would damage the coating. Interested as to what others input will be for paint.

Have you thought about bed liner from a shop? Considering the beating that plate takes (rocks, etc), bed liner might be pretty good. I recently had something covered about that same size at a local shop and it was $30.

wouldnt over think this. just prep/degrease it well then hit it with a spray paint of your choosing from lowes/walmart wherever. since the plate is aluminum, you wont need to worry about rust so it doesnt matter all that much. just do a couple of coats and you'll be good to go. I used some rustoleum hammered finish primer+paint in one spray paint that is "rust preventative" on my steel skid... so far so good.

Steel it spray paint is nice. Dont over think, the first bash is gonna make it look heinous lol . Do you already have the trd skid plate? If not, id recommend looking at getting something from RCI or C4 or the other fabs.

So I just used Rustoleum Professional flat black paint. The only problem was the TRD emblems they came already attached and they are held on with insert tabs and adhesive so I had to cover them in painter's tape. Definitely, a time-consuming process.

If you go off road its bound it get hurt a bit. If you stay on pavement spray paint should be good enough.

Fancy paint ($$$). It gets dinged up/scratched, more fancy paint, or leave it dinged/scratched.
Spray can ($) . It gets dinged/scratched, spray the scratches, or leave it dinged/scratched.
Mine will get dinged. I'm going to use spray can. Touch up at oil changes. Or not.
Same when I get real rock sliders. Psst, pssst, good as new.
