TRD Skid Plate

After my first oil change I was thinking of getting the TRD skid plate for my 2015 SR5.

I like the look of the TRD skid plate and was wondering if oil changes are easier with the TRD Skid Plate?

I just painted mine, the four bolts are very easy to remove. With that said it is a little bit of a juggling act to hold it in place while trying to resit that first bolt. I just sat on my arse, put it on my knees and lifted it up with my legs to keep my hands free....it worked, enjoy!
 
Before you install the new skid plate do yourself a favor and buy a 10m x 1.25 tap and run it through the holes. It will make the install easier.
 
Ok. Sounds like I need to find the best price on one and pull the trigger.

Thanks for all of your help. I love the idea of using the trim piece and appreciate the advice on chasing the threads.

are the skid plate bolts M10x1.25? or M8x1.25? Was going to order a tap from Mcmaster carr.

I have an SR5 with a TRD Skid.

I wish I didn't. What a waste of money. Sure it looks cool, and at the time I "swore" I wasn't going to mod my truck any further but now I've got a $300+ skid plate that doesn't work with any other skids or bumpers. :crybaby:

Yeah, do this. Seriously. My SR5 had 3,000 miles on it when I put the TRD skid on and they were still already rusted/filled with dirt.

When I did a forum search I saw Blackworksinc had posted M8x1.25. But I didn't realize it pointed me into the 4th gen forum instead of the 5th gen.
 
I have the TRD front skid and RCI all almuminum (except rear differntial which is steel). They fit rather seamlessly other then the transition skid needing an extra rubber spacer to give some room to the front differential. See my weekend warrior/mfd thread linked in my signature for pics.

Gracias gentlemen.

I've got SSO sliders on the way, if I don't sell this thing (long story) I'm going to get the aluminum RCI sliders from the TRD back to the diff. Looks to be about $1,500 but I could drop the T4R off a truck and not puncture anything! Super stoked

RCI "sliders" (?) should look rad in place of your skid plates behind the TRD Skid Plate if you don't sell it to me.....
Let me know how that works out! :doh:
