If you are experiencing engine ping when you give your SC'd 3.4L some gas while going uphill, it's because your engine is getting too much air and is running too lean. This is hard on your engine and can cause damage to your Toyota 3.4L engine over time.
I simple way to solve this problem is to take off the 2.34" stock pulley and replace it with a 2.65" anti ping pulley. You will lose a small amount of boost of about 3/4lb, but not enough to notice at all. What you will notice is very smooth shifts and no more pinging while climbing those grades in high gear. Not having to keep downshifting gives you better mpg also.
TRD used to make this pulley and offer it to you if you were one of the ones that had a ping problem. TRD has quit making the 3.4L SC'r and the 2.65" pulley altogether now.
I can sell you one of these brand new pulleys made of black anodized aluminum and guaranteed to fit your SC shaft for $80. + $5.25 S&H to anywhere in the USA using PayPal. Email: [email protected] for details.
