TRD Supercharger

Ok after reading around for awhile I still have a few questions about the TRD supercharger. First off the ping issue, most people say they have it, some say they dont at all, but are most people saying that it was fixed with the 7th Injector kit? Second can I use a different cold air intake with the 7th injector kit? And finally does anyone know the actual gains HP and torque wise for the 7th injector.
Thanks. Eric.

i have a trd supercharger on my 98 4runner and i dont notice any ping or knock. the supercharger is the only modification on my engine. its the black one...i think the 2nd gen supercharger?
i wanted to get the k&n fipk intake but im not sure if its gonna lean out when i gas it

With the TRD Supercharger you will definitely need to do fuel modifications, being it the 7th injector or the URD fuel kit. This is a must... Do not let others tell you other wise...!!!

Read up on this link... it will give you a greater understanding of what is involved...

http://www.gadgetonline.com/super.htm#Problems with the supercharger its self:

I have the URD kit installed in mine and my good friend Dave has the 7th in his-- both run really well provided they are tuned correctly.

Dont know quite yet, I just ordered all of my parts offline on thursday (9th) so when i get the supercharger, 7th injector, and the URD additional injector controller and install it all ill get back to ya.

I only notice a little pinging when I use low octaine gas. With 91 or higher, I don't notice it. Plus, I have the Tundra plugs.

I could be wrong but i think most with the S/C do not run the FIPK b/c it will lean out. Most will do the deckplate mod though.

My parents live in Asheville NC (+/- 2100ft) and I go to school in Savannah GA (sea level)
What I found with the S/C is that at sea level, it works fine and I didn't NOTICE (that doesn't mean its not there) any pinging at all, but once I started to head up the mountain the pinging would get real bad and I would have to stay out of boost until I went back down the mountain. That being said... I couldn't imagine what the S/C would be like with fuel mods. It was already quite quick with just the S/C (thats running steelies and 285s) Another thing you need to do is if you have an auto, you need to get the valve body upgrade. It will make the tranny shift much quicker and you will not grenade it either. Check out the video in my sig if you want (forgive the music if you don't like rap) but once you go FI, you'll never look back!

Here is a pic for encouragement... :D
