TRD supercharger

I saw today a 2007 4runner 4.0 V6 with a supercharger install and running great. I ask the guy how he install it with wich kit and he did not know but gave the phone number of the guy that put it on his 4runner. Will this bring any complications with the 4runner in the long term or I should just go for it. Thanks

In long term use.... A supercharger will effect the logevity of any motor but it all depends on how well you take care of it.
The 4.0L has a compression ratio of 10.0:1 which means you are limited as to how much boost you can "safley" run. Almost every factory vehicle with forced induction has a ratio of about 8.4 - 9.2.
You can counteract this by adding and intercooler, meth injection or building the motor to handel it.

I have owned and built many forced induction vehicles and to be honest if your concerned about long term I would have it installed by a professional and have it tuned by a professional. I've seen too many Fast and the Furious wanabe mechanics destroying people's cars.

Also remember with the supercharger will come the need for higher octane fuel so say hello to $4.00/gal.

Another way to compensate, considering the 4.0L's stock compression ratio, is to keep the max boost low. While initially you might think "then why bother supercharging?" the supercharger will help you to produce sea-level horsepower ratings even at high elevation. If the install is tuned for cheap gas and max engine durability the supercharged T4R will have a slight edge on a non-supercharged T4R at sea-level and a big advantage at elevation.

There's a few FJCruisers that are fitted w/superchargers. I think that's where the parts came from.

they only make FJ/Tacoma kits and reflashes


those with 4.0 4Runners and Tundra (like me) have to get it to work some other way
