TRD tundra installed

I just finished putting the complete TRD front strut assm on my 02 sport. I was fortunate enough to find them with rear shocks, rear springs and UCA with under 20k for $100. Gotta love craigslist! My question is will the rear shocks fit the 4runner? I have 99 rear coils coming and If possible would like to use the rear's from the tundra. I'm new to this forum thing so can any one tell me how to reduce the size of the pics? I will post a couple for now, sorry in advance for the size.

Agreed, but I bet some OME 906's would do the trick nicely!

hey man its not my rig or yours... let him do it, he doesnt live close to either one of us, so we will never have to see it.... and if anything it will look dumb enough to others to make them think that truck looks stupid -then in turn making them think all 3rd gen 4runners are stupid... and im ok with that, cause then those people wont want to go out and buy one, so when it comes time for us to by a second one or a replacement their will still be some left and they will be affordable too...

to each their own, man if you wanta give it back rack then go for it, its your truck and im not paying for it, nor do i have to look at it everyday so have at it.


ps what a perfectly good waste of a nice set of TRD tundra front coils and struts....

O.P. Those parts look like they are in great shape! I personally prefer the back higher as well, but as long as you like it man....that's all that counts!

To answer your question the shocks will work with our 4runners. Good job on the Tundras and 5100's with them are awesome if you ever decide to upgrade the front shocks. I agree do what you want and don't leave because of one guys post.

hey man, sorry for what i said earlier, it was more in a sarcastic tone(i know you cant read tone as it does not exist)... anyhow yeah i think did a good job on your runner with the install, and you made a good choice about the tundra stuff. later on if you decide that you dont like the rear sag you can always just add a spacer to level it out...

to each their own, i personally do not like the look nor would i spend money on one to get that look. but its not my truck, and its not my money. if we all had cookie cutter 4runners no one would be here... so dont leave just cause a couple of us voiced our dislike, thats just as childish as us making fun of it. im not gonna beg you to stay, but am gonna tell you there is a lot of knowledge and advice to be had here, when i came to this forum i had some knowlege of the 4runner but not nearly as much as i do now, and i am by no means an expert on it. i learn new stuff everyday here so its worth sticking around even if you get some screw balls that poke fun at you every now and again. after all who the f*ck cares, its not like your losing a friend...

no worries, I was just caught of guard, my appoliges as well. I did mention that I am putting the 99 coils in the rear and as it sits right now there is a 2 inch difference and its riding on the stops. So anyway thanks to all for all the good "advise" on this forum.

Thanks thats exactly what I was looking for. I was planning on doing the 5100's right away but these were in to good a shape to not run them for awhile.

In Southern CA the nose high look comes from REAL Prerunners that try to keep the weight in the rear so that the front float over bumps when you're hauling a$$ through the desert.

That being said, I don't expect most people from other areas of the country to understand the "look" of a Prerunner. SoCal's the minority when it comes to this "fad", but the Baja 1000 might be something you might want to google to understand why the nose high lifts are rampant around these parts (not such a fad around here, that race has been around long before 4runners were ever made). I personally think it looks better on a truck than a 4runner because it makes a 4runner look like it has saggy a$$ syndrome, but that's coming from someone who's owned a couple long travel caged Toyota prerunner trucks.

I also don't like an excessive stink bug rake, and only think it's necessary of you're hauling loads. The rear should be no more than 1" higher than the front otherwise it is just as equally for aesthetics as the nose high look.

Understood. My point was that a lot of people have lifts that are purely cosmetic wether they're 2WD or 4WD, and everyone seems to give the thumbs up if it's got massive rear rake and the guy who does the opposite gets treated like Jesus on the cross (sorry for those religious, but I'm not so the analogy works).

nice clean runner. the 99 rear coils should bring up the rear end a good amount since the 02's sit the lowest.

The prerunner stance looks awesome on a TRUCK that is BUILT for prerunning. On everything else its poser and So Gay.


But you all are right, its his truck and it wont hurt me any if he does it.

Just if you do lift it like that, ADJUST YOUR HEADLIGHTS. Don't make other people suffer anymore than they would by looking at it.






That being said, that's one clean truck. I'm Jelly of how perfect that paint still is.

Coming in a little late on this but it came up in a google search looking at some other LT 4runners. Man R.I.P.CORD always liked your 4runner dude but I think that last comment made me dislike it. I like the prerunner look, and here in texas all we see everywhere is the texas tilt that makes every offroad vehicle look like its braking even when its sitting still. I personally love long travel trucks, and I hope one day my 4runner will be up to par to hit some whooops with the best of them. I have been into SCORE and all that **** for a while now being my first vehicle at 14 was a 73 VW bug, gutted, caged and long travel all done by me which made me appreciate what goes into those vehicles. The amount of tuning those guys put into the suspension alone is rediculous and thats not even touching the engine to get it race ready. I left mine with more of the front upwards bc its the way I like it and dont give a **** what others think id rather be mobbing down dusted trails and small jumps then slowly climbing a rock face but thats me. I work in the tx valley by the border so I get to see some of the prerunners a little more down here and I love every single one I see. I want to be unique, not have mine look like yours or someone elses. I have flat areas of dust and sand while you have mountains and snow. Do your thing dude its your 4runner not his.
