TRD Wheel Cleaning / Protection

I've got the black TRD wheels and want to make sure they stay nice and new. Can these wheels be waxed? I've always put a coat of wax on my wheels to help protect them.

I'm also Assuming just regular soap is best for them to clean? Anyone use the Chemical Guys wheel cleaning kit?

Mine have matte finish and I don't want to wax them. Just wash with same soap as the rest of car works fine for me for last seven years.

Mine are matte as well so I'm assuming waxing would probably not work very well!

These wheels are a love/hate relationship. You have to keep them clean If you do not, all sorts of stuff gets baked on to them and they look terrible. Lately I have taken to scrubbing them with a soft cloth and Simple Green. Then I either use Dr. Beasleys Matte Wheel liquid (Amazon) or a simple detail spray...your choice. My wheels always have a shine, but they look amazing.

The next thing I am going to try on them is the new Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic spray coating.

Keeping them matte did not work for me, they always had a dull brown haze, especially in the nooks and crannies.

Try one of the new spray on ceramic coatings by McGees 37, Chemical Brothers, Meguiars, Mother’s. Get them clean and then coat them. Follow up with a few additional “layers” by reapplying 24 hours between coats. That should help keep dirt and brake dust off.

I've used the Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte Detailer Spray after just washing with soap and water for my TRD wheels. Has worked very well.

I've been happy with CarPro Hydro2. It's a silica spray that you just spray on and rinse off. Used it for years and makes cleaning easy and adds a layer of protection

Used Dr. Beasley's today, inside and out with their matte wheel cleaner then the sealer. It was a bit of a pain but dang they look great now!

First pic was before. A year's worth of grime.

Second pic was after the wheel cleaner.

Third pic was after the sealer.

I am about to purchase some AMMO NYC product for the wheels on my 2021 TRD Pro. I am going to go with:

Plum Wheel Cleaner
Mud tire Gel
Geleé 2.0 Wheel Protectant

AMMO makes some incredible products. Unfortunately I live in an apartment and I am unable to wash my rig using the traditional 3 buckets, foam and water methods. I purchased AMMO Frothe Hoseless Wash and was blown away with the product. It lifts the dirt of the paint and all I have to do is scoop it off with a microfiber towel. I am a believer now lol

I ceramic coat mine, when i do the rest of the truck. Other then that, a wash mitt (just for rims) using the last of the soap from hand washing... In the wheel bucket of course.

AMMO stuff looks awesome, I've probably watched every video he's made. What I did back in the apartment days was just bring a bucket or two to the spray and wash and used it there. Obviously never using their brush, just the wand.

That's very impressive! My buddy is looking to get this set of matte TRD wheels for the new set of tires from 4Wheelonline and they are dull than that. Hope the cleaner and sealer would do the magic.
