That sucks man! What part of the body, exactly, is that on?
Xpel clear bra might have protected you from that, not sure how deep that is. My installer demonstrated the effectiveness of it, and put a key scrape on his Acura, left it in the sun for a couple hours and it healed! Scratch disappeared without a trace.
Either you fix it, or just leave it and it will eventually disappear, in your mind, and you wont notice it.
Too bad there are so many unhappy people in this world who feel the need to act out in a negative manner.

looks like its on the front bumper under the L headlight. Guess the good thing about that bumper is all the hard angles. You may be able to get it spotted for less than a normal "proper" repair. Thinking $300 ish depending on the shop. Mind you that wouldn't carry a warranty.

That looks like it could use some "sanding and prepping" before they spray it. $300, no way. More like $1K-ish. Ask me how I know. (please don't)
Road debris? That must be some magic debris to do that type of damage. But seriously, people suck. Strange place? They were probably passing by and it was the most "convenient" place to key it. Like I said, people suck. Period.

Looks deliberate because its kind of curved. I'm currently in Bakersfield, CA for 6 weeks and every other day I find a new door ding or chip. Think its time to buy sliders that protrude out far enough not for rocks but for parking lot protection.
Sure if you pull the bumper, overhaul it completely, charge for flex, color sand, with a normal labor rate, yes it would be upward 700-800.
All I am talking about it is a spot job (no warranty). No overhaul, just mask the left side of the bumper at the body lines. The sanding and prep is quite minimal compared to a proper warrantied job. Maybe Id go upward towards 400 because of the color.
Do I recommend doing this to a new truck you plan on keeping for 10 years. Probably not. If you plan on wheeling it hard and scraping up the bumper anyways then yes.
Sucks that it happened. The damage looks like someone pressed an object hard on the top sections then slid it down.
Any chance you pissed someone off in the parking lot, on the road or double parked? If none of those things happened then just take it as a compliment that you have a TRDPro, whoever did it must be jealous that you have one of these. :driving:

Actually I drive pretty conservatively so I dont think I pissed anyone off. I even park by myself in the corner of the lot at work where no one is.
I suspect it was done at home (i have to park in a driveway). I live relatively close to a bus stop and this isn't the first time someone has keyed my car.
I back into my driveway so the front faces the street and some knucklehead walking by probably wanted to have fun at my expense.
The good news is it is actually on top of a vinyl wrap if you can tell, but the bad news is they went deep with whatever the fk they used. Most of the damage was prevented but there is still some that got through. I'll need to talk to my detailer to see if i can save it - if so, i might expand the wrap to cover the hood as well as the sides of the front of the car.

If you are going to key somebodies car, you are going to walk front to back with the key in your hand as you walk by.
Who does this happen to? People like the ******* at Costco a while back in the Corvette who thought his car was so special that it deserved 3 parking spots right in front.
No, I did not key his car but as I walked by I thought 1) What a dick and 2) If somebody keyed that car I would not be the least bit surprised and actually wouldn't even say anything if I saw it happen.
I must admit it took all my self control not to "lose" control of my shopping cart on my way out. Self entitled selfish people piss me off. If you are that worried about your vehicle, do what I do - park way out from everybody and walk - the exercise will do you good anyway.
But - doesn't sound like you did anything like that and the damage to me just does not say "keyed".
Write it off as a bad day and take it to a good body shop. My painter would fix it and you would never know the damage was there in no time.

People suck, this is exactly why I came up with a way to have my dashcams record if I choose them to when I am not in the truck using an AOB switch. I will put together the info early next week after I install my latest purchases this weekend.
I had some jackass take out the bumper cover on my '14 Forester which took 4 trips over 6 weeks for the body shop to fix correctly. So not only did I have to pay for it but you have to deal with the possibility that the "reputable" body shop that you take it to is full of chimps with spray guns that have never seen masking tape before.

I agree. If you can find a shop that will do that, awesome.
BUT, if I planned on having it for 10+ years and (I don't offroad) then I would say YES, totally worth it to fix it. However if you plan on wheeling hard, then NO. Why bother if you're going to get trail rash all the time?

I know it's probably a little early, but you can buy very good quality painted bumper covers from one Lexus dealer for around $500. IS bumpers are every bit as complicated shape as the 4runners, and less common. You might at some point, or even now, find inexpensive front 4runner bumper covers. Since the paint is much simpler than the Lexus paint process these might actually be a lot cheaper than you'd think.
