No glamor shot, but I love the front bumper and full skids. I just wish I was lucky enough to get the rear swingout to match. Thank you for all that you have done for the community! Long live Savage!

I was going to go with Savage as well, but now I'll be going with a full set of skid plates from shrockworks. 3rd Gen 4Runner Skid Plates, 1996-2002

That's what I was thinking too but I've heard endless bad things about shrockworks and their skids.

Oh really? I haven't come across anything bad about them, but I haven't really looked either.

If you poke around you'll see a few reports like this. Granted most the problems are related to their transfer case and gas tank skids, they still come off as kinda shady to me and with the reports of them not fitting well with many aftermarket bumpers I have a feeling it wouldn't play nice with mine, given how close and snug it sits. Which is unfortunate because it would blend nice with the skid that's already on the bumper (True North Fab open wing)
Lots of people recommend Coastal too but they only offer them in a full set :frusty:

Shockworks are a pretty good and reliable outfit. Savage was also... Stayaway from Perkins.. i think they're out of business(one can only hope)

I've heard good things about them but I haven't looked into them myself, don't care for how they look imo

[MENTION=549924]Devbot[/MENTION] I'll throw 4XInnovation skids into the fray, too. I waited 8 weeks for mine last year, but they appear to be IN STOCK and on a bit of a sale now, too. Beware - they are HEAVY. You don't technically need a floor jack to install/remove, but if you leave the 2 sections bolted together, you pretty much need one. Made from thick US steel. There is an oil drain hole so they don't really need to come off unless working on lines for a cooler, etc.

RCI's skid plates look the narrowest to me & seems to have the most exposure on the bottom corners of the radiator compared to other companies. Speaking of that, I wonder what the reasoning is behind a lot of companies keeping the bottom corners of the radiator exposed?

Sucks about savage. I waited too long also. I recently started to consider coastal offroad's diy skids again. They look similar to savage & I like the wide coverage. I say recently because I'm pretty sure their instructions previously stated that you had to drill into the frame for installation but now their website says no drilling for install. If it is in fact a no drilling install then that's what I'm leaning towards. Savage nailed it with their design & making it multiple pieces to make removal easier for maintenance. I'm secretly hoping Roy passes the torch to someone that can restart production of his skids. They're too good not to.

My alternative choices were either:
