my back seats in my 93 4rnr are not coming up. this is the first time I've tried to move them since I bought it. I think the previous owner closed them with the straps down.

are the straps more towards the center or are they more towards the edges of the seat?

any tricks for getting them open without the straps?

i dont have a 93, but my straps are in the center.

and, just push down at the back of the seat, you should be able to see them.

If I remember right, there are two straps, one in the middle of each side. I believe you just have to get a hand back under it and pop it up, one side at a time. I can check later on mine if that doesn't do it, but I'm pretty sure it's just the seat back holding it--no latch to release.

If the PO closed the seats with the straps inside it's just a simple matter of slipping your fingers in the middle/back and feeling for them. If you have big hands - get a kid, or woman to feel for it. Pull up and lift.

To drop down the backs there's a release knob on both the left and right side. BE CAREFUL when you drop it down. Move the front seats up some or you will eventually break off the knob(s).

If you need a couple of pics I can take some - I just need to move some stuff out of the way. I always keep mine down for hauling my offroad cargo.

:lookout:

Easier way! Pull the two mounting bolts off the front of the seat and lift the seat right up. Had this same problem last week.
