861's:
Bar diameter (mm): 16
Coil Height (mm): Coil A 480, Coil B 490
# of wraps: 10.4
Spring Rate: 220 LBF/IN

The main difference is the number of wraps in the coils, and the 861's are a bit taller. The 861's are progressive and have a lot more wraps towards the top of the spring (bottom in picture).

861 is on the left, 851 on the right.

The side by side pics really help. So the 861's with the extra wraps will ride about the same, but compress less than the 851's? Are the 851's linear spring rate then?

I thought that they were both 220# spring rate.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The progressive section will compress sooner. This would allow the coil to ride lower with the same heavy load.

Yes, that is correct.

My mistake, the spring rates are 220 LBF/IN for both coils. The OE spring rate is 160
