Trimming coils

What are the side effects of trimming coils if there are any?

are you referring to the coil springs? I am curious why you want to trim them. I would imagine it would make for a different feel of a ride. most likely a little bouncy is my guess.

Well LC coils, my bad, they around 5in of lift (a bit much) I rather have em around 4in of lift

Just trade them for the 7 wraps, I assume you have either the 8 or 9 wraps. To be honest tho, I'm betting you'll yearn for that extra bit of lift down the road

Cutting one 'wrap' off isnt a big deal as long as its not a progressive spring. Its not like its a car that your cutting springs to lower it, theres a big difference.

LC coils are flattened on the top of the spring. If you trim that off, It will not seat correctly. Trade them for something shorter.

^ What he said ^. I have been thinking about doing this as well. But the coils are flattened and squared on the top to sit flush against the cone or seat if you dont use the cone. The bottoms are curled to a smaller diameter to fit the bottom seat. I spent a lot of time looking at the fitment and thinking of ways to modify the coils and in the end there is very little room to do so without really affecting the way they seat, which could possibly prove to be dangerous.

As mentioned above you could get the 7 wraps, which are actually 7.5 wraps. Thats the smallest the lc coils go. I have the 7.5 wraps and they gave me around 4.5 of lift. But Ive got around 475 lbs in the back of my truck right now trying to get them to settle. With that weight im sitting with more like a 3.5-4" lift.
