Trip to Badlands in Attica, IN - Anybody want to meet up?

I'm hoping to get up there some weekend between now and the end of May. I'm a total noob when it comes to off roading so hopefully one or two of you out there would be willing to show me the ropes.

My girlfriend and I are planning on going up and camping nearby on a Friday, wheeling Saturday, then camping maybe Saturday night too. Pick a weekend and we'll set something up! Can't wait to get the ride on some dirt.

I know the Hoosier Cruisers have an outing planned for the first weekend in may at Badlands, I am not sure yet if I can make it. It was originally a shakedown run for GSMTR, but it looks like Tellico may be closed for GSMTR. Check out the TLCA clubhouse at ih8mud.com and find the Hoosier Cruisers section and their run schedule is right there.

I want to make it but I got some crazy stuff going on in my life right now so I can't commit at this time.
 
I may be able to make it over, but its going to be too up in the air for me to commit right now, or help pick a weekend. Basically any weekend in May looks fine for now. April is pretty booked up.
 
Ok well I'm thinking about the Saturday the 18th of April. I'll be going in May too probably but the girlfriend is done with school at the beginning of May and we wanted to go together.

So that's the date, April 18th. Anybody?
 
Well that puts me out but thats not a problem. Having a birthday part for my son on that day. Have a great time, take many pictures, and let me know if you are going again in May.
 
Still nobody to come with?! :( I was really hoping to have somebody who knew what they were doing in a 4Runner!! If nobody steps up, I'll have to be at the mercy of all the Jeep guys... :bash:

One more time... this Saturday - Badlands Park...

Really wish somebody familiar with our trucks could meet me there! Please?!
 
No way I can make it out this weekend, but I am still trying to free up time to make it down there the weekend of May 1st.
 
Well since it looks like nobody's going to be able to make it (maybe May!), i have some questions about Badlands - do they have spotters and stuff along the trails if I were to go without a group? Do they give you a tow rope as well in case you get stuck?
 
Well that was an epic failure :( I messed up big time folks. Basically I hit a tree and scraped/dented up the drivers side door and busted the mirror.

As for off roading, I'm done...

Anybody got a drivers side mirror they want to give me? Or maybe a fender flare? Or a drivers side door?
 
Sorry to hear about that, did you go out alone? If you had a spotter do you think you could have avoided the damage?

Well I was going up a hill and the cutoff was too steep so I hit the undercarriage so I stopped and started going back down and apparently I had turned the wheel because I was coming down right next to the tree - it missed the whole back of the truck luckily but there was no way it could clear the mirror. I think I could have got out if I'd thought slower and put the hill start break in so I didnt roll backwards when I switched from break to gas to pull forward again a bit, thats when it hit the tree :(

As for a spotter, maybe would have helped...at least somebody with some experience would have been nice. I went with my girlfriend and she told me not to go. I should have listened.
 
Sorry to hear that you messed up your truck. I screwed up a running board and 2 fenders during just one visit to the Badlands. I think it's really more of a place for dedicated offroad vehicles. A majority of trucks I saw on the trails there were complete off road rigs. DD's were the tow vehicles. After screwing up body work I just stayed in the open areas like the sand pit and the high speed offroad stuff
