Trouble compressing bushings on new 5100 shocks with OEM coils

I tried to install my lift yesterday with new Tundra 5100 billys and OME coils.

I bought all new hardware to go with it, new top hats with new isolators and all.

As I was assembling, I compressed the spring and got to the point where I needed to put on the top nut, but I couldn't because the bushings on the shocks were too thick. I tried the C clamp trick but was not able to get it even close to where it needed to be. It didn't matter how much I compressed the spring I still had this problem.

any tips?

What perch is the bilstein set on? I had to compress my eibach's almost completely to get the top nut on and my perch was on the lowest setting.

They are on the bottom perch. It didn't seem that compressing the spring any more was getting me any more space up there...

That would be weird. But then again I reused all of my stock top hats and isolators so they were pre-compressed. I'd compress the spring until the coils were hitting each other.

Did mine this weekend...

I had to put the shock upright and push down on the bushing/washer with the nut and twist. You just need to get the first thread started, then it'll work its way on. Definitely not easy and needs a lot of pressure. Also, so PB or WD will help the bushing slide a little better as well.

Edit to add: this has nothing to do with the coil compression. As long as the coil isn't pushing on the top hat, you're just fine.
