Trouble disengaging 4x4 - 2015 4Runner Trail

I engaged 4x4 on the way to work since it was icy but as I pulled in and tried to disengage while rolling but it was stuck. Waited until I parked and tried again but would only let me go to 4L. Now it won't let me go back to 4H and definitely not back to 2. Any ideas? It's got about 700 miles. Maybe it's just stiff but didn't want to force it.

To get it in/out of 4Lo you must be in neutral and not moving. If working correctly, you should be able to switch from 2Hi to 4Hi as long as you're below 70mph or something like that. If it continues to get stuck, I would contact the dealer. My 2014 TE has can seem finicky at times, but I think that's just the nature of mechanical engagement.

Driveline bind - don't make tight turns on dry pavement in 4wd. You'll need to drive straight for a bit, then you'll be able to go back to 2wd.

I remember mine was stiff the first few times engaging in and out...much more thaN I thought it should. Now it works fine.

Driveline bind - don't make tight turns on dry pavement in 4wd. You'll need to drive straight for a bit, then you'll be able to go back to 2wd.

Barring this back it up about 20' in a straight line while trying to disengage it. This was the old school way to reduce the bind in a transfer case.

The best way to release driveline bind is getting all the wheels off the ground. Sooner than later.
