Trouble starting when hot

I just bought an 87, Has the 4cyl. 5 speed manual, 141k. It has trouble when starting, Like it isn't getting spark... But only does that when it's hot / warm outside. It has a new coil pack, Igniter, New plugs, New distributor cap and rotor.

I messed with the what I am assuming is the Air flow sensor on the air box, and I was able to get some pops out of the engine, And eventually it started.... but it was hard to do so.

So what would cause this? What can I check?

Also, How durable is the interior? I took the top off and don't have a garage... And the weather here is unpredictable.

EDIT: I think It's that air flow thing. I took it to the gas station, Ran fine... Put gas in it. Tried to start it and it wouldnt start. I disconnected the intake pipe from the air box, it popped and crackled. Reconnected it and it started up fine.
