Someone (with what I assume to be an oversized pickup) parked in a standard size space in a parking lot and my bumper was scuffed and the tailgate got dented in the lower corner just below the emblems as they backed out. Not bad, but enough to press in the sheet metal. Took it to a PDR (paintless dent repair) shop and the original estimate was $200 with no guarantees it'd be 100% restored.
Since there was nothing to lose, I decided to try using my ding king to see if it'd pop the sheetmetal back into place. I figured worst case, it'd lessen the dent and perhaps the dent shop could do a better repair than they originally thought. Imagine my surprise when I heard/saw the dent come most of the way out. There was a little ripple left, which I decided to let the dent clinic take care of, as I didn't want to do any damage. The PDR guy was amazed how well the $20 ding king actually worked. (I was extremely careful not to pull it out too far) After an hours work and $85 out of my wallet, I was elated to find they were able to completely restore the tailgate to its original condition. Can't even see or tell that the tailgate was ever damaged. Gotta love those PDR guys! It is well worth finding a good PDR shop for those minor mishaps...
