Reminds me of the saying... "Do not feed the trolls"

Anyway, the guy basically said that the truck has to throw the error messages for the problem to be confirmed, or even acknowledged. I guess he could have and should have been nicer about the entire situation. I know he was an 'assistant manager' at the Koons Toyota, in Tysons Corner, VA
Ironically, this is the 3rd time I've taken my truck there, because it is close to work, and every time i walk away mad at that same guy and i feel like he just isn't trustworthy at all, I definitely am done taking my truck to Koons Toyota in Tysons. The guy doing the actual work on my truck was nice and i trust him, i just can't trust the dude up front. Great customer service right? He is probably just conditioned to be a di*k to customers because he has had to deal with irate and needy customers for 20 years.
So basically, if you bring you truck in and ask about the TSB without the error codes or the car stalling, the guy may or may not be a **** to you.
/end rant
I know that guy, and had it out with him about a TSB on my '04 Matrix. He gets pretty huffy when he gets told something he doesn't know better than you.
I used to work on Westwood Center Drive, so it was the closest by far, and they didn't break stuff (and get huffy) like Alexandria Toyota did.
I'm trying to decide if i want to complain to his manager or not. Seems like it would be a real pain. And would they do anything?
My 2010 39k miles just popped this code. Anyone know if I am past the mileage for the tsb? Anyone have a copy of it that states the mileage? Anyone pay for this themselves and know what the repair bill is?
Hey all,
Your posts on this topic helped me look further into the problem. My 2010 4runner limited stalled of and threw some lights on Sunday similar to others. The dealer pulled codes p2111, p1603, and p1605 today, requiring a new throttle body at $1315 plus tax. Talked with my brother and decided it was worth it to look at other options since I am out of the 36 month warranty.
After calling Toyota, I found out there is a customer support program for qualifying 4runners from 2001-2010. The electronic throttle control system is faulty and therefore covered for 13 years, up to 150,000 miles under pol13-02. The guys I spoke with said any dealership should be able to plug in that info and cover it, but mine didn't so I'm assuming many won't. After bringing all of that up with them, everything is covered, no problems, should be ready for me tomorrow.
If you've paid out of pocket to have this done, I would look I to ways to get it reimbursed. It was certainly worth my couple hours of digging around, hopefully of anyone else finds this thread that will save them the time and hassle.
Good luck!
