Truck doesn't want to run after sitting in (heavy) rain

Title says it all. This has happened a couple times now.. After sitting thru any kind of heavy rain; the truck does not want to run properly without some gas pedal persuasion, and even then it struggles..... im lost.

Happened to me last year after heavy rains, and all I did was replace the wires, cap and rotor. You may have old spark plug wires that are getting wet when it rains.

That'll be what I check (replace most likely) first, its definitely water getting where it doesn't need to be...... Thanks nando. Its still kind of crazy to me that even when the truck is sitting this could happen, but hey.........

Happened to me a few years back. Couldn't figure out for the life of me what it was....until after I got stuck on the road 3 times.

Finally, wound up being this:

Over on the passenger kick panel is the ECU and Fuel Cutoff Relay. Water was leaking from the fenderwell area, down to the relay and ecu, shorting them out causing it to run crappy or not at all.

I bought a new relay, removed the ECU. Opened up the ECU and took silicone and sealed it with a gasket and also plugged the spare screw holes. I then took dielectric grease and filled all the connectors (where the wires go into the connectors) for the ECU and relay. Took some rubberized undercoating and sprayed it up into the fender area.

No more problems since then and it's been in some serious pouring rain.
