truck stuck wont move. brakes .trans.gear box??

i have a 95 4runner 4x4 5spd . that seemed like it was binding or draging while taking off last week. tuesday it was 15 out and i went to the store. came out put truck in reverse and it stalled forward same. the body of truck wouls twist like it was going to move and nothing. just when i thought i was going to have to call tow truck i popped it out a gear one more time. you colud smell the clutch and it got free. the parking brake did feel a little different. so last night i parked it without brake on.

Considering how cold it was, and the vehicle age, I would guess you had the trans stuck in two gears at the same time. That would account for it not moving under power. It could be the parking brake, but I kinda doubt it. Most vehicles will be able to overcome a set parking brake and move somewhat. Do a search on trans shifter bushings, you will find a lot of info.

search under trans shifer bushings. no results..are they located in the shifter were they can be replaced from inside the car or is it internal problem with bushings. can you post a search results link of them if you culd find some links.

It could be the parking brake, but I kinda doubt it. Most vehicles will be able to overcome a set parking brake and move somewhat.

If the brake was frozen, at that temp, it is possible that it could keep the truck from moving. I wouldn't exclude this as a possible cause of your problem.
