trueflow filter

when you guys talk about the trueflow filters do you mean the whole air intake? or can i just replace my oem air filter with a true flow filter without replacing the air intake?

Tornadoes,throttle body spacers,etc. are a waste of $$$ and neither is proven to work.

4Runner engines as with most newer motors are direct port injection so the air and fuel don't meet til it's in the cylinder thus negating anything the Tornado is supposed to do.
 
cool thanks i had a feeling they would be theyre kinda expensive and they dont even say they improve performance that much, but i can just buy a true flow air filter to fit my stock intake right?
 
yup! I got one last week...

It is a snug fit in your existing air box...
But you don't need an entire new intake...

You can do the ISR mod if you're looking to streamline your intake...
 
Yep, I've got a True Flow air filter in my 4Runner that is a stock replacement (it just slides right in.)

You can purchase these filters online (just google "True Flow") or purchase one from Jason @ Burtman Industries.
 
I think Burtman is too expensive on most items too.

But....

Burtman $44.99
Cardomain $40.95

Not too much savings there. In this case I would just go through Burtman since he is known to be a good faithful seller.

no its been in the neighborhood of 104-105. I live in Tx and there is alot of flat open road with just fields on the sides.

no one asked for your flame and at least i am not weaving in and out of traffic while going these speeds endangering other people.
 
Well I'm glad to hear that.

I realize you are still young and think its cool to drive fast and all that, but if you post up and brag about driving illegally, dangerously and stupidly, then expect to get some flak.

Question on the TrueFlow.

Can they be recharged with a general K&N or Airhog recharge kit or do they have a specific kit that HAS to be used?

Don't know, but personally I'd stick with the true flow cleaning kit.

True Flow makes their own cleaning/recharging kit as seen here: Cleaning Kit

It's a two part process: First clean the filter using the supplied cleaner. After you've cleaned it and the filter has had time to dry, use the other can to oil it.

I know this b/c I just did mine. Just shop around for the 2 can kit (will come in one box by the way). I got my kit off the internet for $12 including shipping. You might be able to find it at local part stores though.

As far as how often it needs to be cleaned, I'd say it depends on how fast you can get it dirty. If you drive a lot of miles on your 4Runner and drive in dusty, dry conditions, I'd clean it more often than someone that only drives 800 miles a month. Totally up to you.

I rack up a lot of miles every year and drive through some pretty nasty stuff, so my filter gets dirty fast. I plan on cleaning it 3-4 times a year. I did the same thing with my previous 4Runner's true flow filter too.

Remember, a clean filter is a healthy filter :)
