Trying to work out a deal on this '03 SR5 Sport

Alright guys - newbie here. I may be getting back into the Toyota world very soon. I'm looking at this 03 SR5 Sport. 237k miles. They're asking way too much, and as of right now, the only service history they can show me is oil changes and tires/brakes. So far, nothing back from them on the major services - timing belt, water pump, etc. Oh, and I forgot to add, it's a one owner car that stayed in the same town its whole life, apparently, for what that's worth.

They're asking $8725. Given what it will probably need, basically a full timing belt service and whatever else, how low can I get these guys to go reasonably?

Personally, I wouldn't buy this. Way too much for the price. You can probably find one for the same price with less miles.

Look on cars.com

I have been on there everyday looking and looking.

Also decide if you want V8 or V6 because your wallet will be crying later when you start fueling up often.

Personally, I would probably pass on this one because of the mileage and unknown maintenance history. The dealer probably won't be able to pull up any service work that wasn't performed by a Toyota dealer.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm going to go take a look at the truck tomorrow when I get off work. Since I happen to be very familiar with the town, my plan is to try and track down the original owner and find out what they've done if I get serious about buying it. The other thing is, I'm gonna try and get $1500 knocked off the top straight away since a full timing belt service is going to be an absolute necessity for my peace of mind. If they won't hear that, I'm definitely walking.

They've got a 2000 Tacoma SR5 4x4 up the road with 102k on it for 10k - I may check that out, too. The mileage is a lot more tolerable.
