Tube benders

I'm wanting to start a few projects I have in mind but need something that will bend 1.75" tube. What should I look for on a $300 budget? I'm thinking something like this.

im looking for a used jd2 my self, does the bender you show in the pic come with all the dies? and whats the thickest wall you can bend with it?

I agree with kaceman. If you are going to buy one,
JD² model 3 - $295
Make sure you have something solid to anchor it into.

As a professional off road fabrication shop, I can't suggest the JD2 benders enough. We have two Model 4's, one that has now been in use for 12 yrs and has easily had a few hundred thousand feet of tubing go through it.

Also pick up the JD2 TN100 tube notcher its worth its weight in hrs. lost hand notching or using some HF POS.

I have to agree that the JD2 is a nice bender, however keep in mind that the price mentioned above doesn't include all the dies.

We're running a Pro Bender in our shop which has worked out great! It's a vertical air/hydro bender so it doesn't require being bolted down for use however it's a good bit out the price range you listed.

That one I posted sucks!! I thought it was decent until I read all the things it CAN'T do.

I was looking at a JD squared myself which falls in my budget but after you buy a die set, it doubles the price. I never would have thought a manual bender would cost so much. I don't think it's worth buying for a few projects no bigger than what I have.

Yea your best bet would probably be to either borrow one from a friend or just pay to have a few tubes bent up. You could always just outsource the bending and then do all the rest of the work yourself.

I tried contacting outdoorlogic and addicted offroad to make me ends like they have on their 3rd gen bumpers but no luck. I haven't tried to contact them again so I guess I'll have to try some place local.

I would check craigslist. It's a great way to get used stuff like tube benders, but for a good price.

I would think one of them would be able to do that for you. They may have just been overwhelmed at the time and forgot to respond, I know it happens to me from time to time.

If your looking around local find the guys that run at the local race track, I'm sure one of them has a bender for doing stuff on their cars....

I figured they were probably busy which is why I didn't want to pester them about it.

Actually, that's a good idea. I know a guy down the road from me that makes cages for race cars.

When I built my front bumper, I didn't have any way to bend the hoops. So, I talked with Adam at 4xInnovations, and he agreed to bend the tubing for me. I sent him a drawing with all the dimensions I needed. He did a great job, and was easy to work with. It didn't cost very much at all, either. I would definitely recommend him for small tube bending jobs.
