Tube Doors

So I used the search function and found nothing. Google was no real help either.

Has anyone done a set of tube doors on the 5th gen, or know where some can be purchased?

So the tube doors are a go! I will get some pics up as soon as I get them put on. One of my wife's friends has all kinds of welding certifications and has built cages and frames for monster trucks or something. He took a couple picks of my wife's FJ tube doors and built them. I think they came out great! He will more than likely start making them if there is any interest in them.

This one was before the latch and mirror are on.



Here it is with latch on. Mirrors were mounted last night. Just waiting for him to bring them by the house today. I may have him do some rear doors as well.

was just thinking about this thread the other day as i saw a jeep cruise by with tube doors. was hoping something would pop up soon about it.

they look pretty good i think

definitely do the rear doors or it may not look complete (oxymoron) looking forward to pics of the whole thing to get a good feel for how it looks

He asked me if I wanted him to do the rears, so they will be coming at some point.

Pretty cool! Props for making it happen. Looks like some mad skills were at work right there.


But swapping them will be a bit of a PITA. Even my old 89 pickup doors are hard to take on and off solo with the quick release pins... Its a two person job on these big heavy doors for sure. Don't forget about the electronics.... Plus... you get a lot of stuff inside the cab that would normally be kept out by the doors. Not a great idea with carpet

It does change up the wheeling experience though.... It's a much different feel without doors. Lots of fun. I think there is a market for them. It's not huge though.

The open air fun of a Wrangler, but the build quality of a Toyota. Sounds like a win-win to me.
