Tundra Brake upgrade probmem

My front brakes have been shaking like a leaf lately, so I went and bought the 199mm calipers, pads, and rotors for the 01 Tundra at Advance. I get a call from the shop about an hour after I dropped her off saying the calipers I had on there were already the 199mm Tundra calipers. It seems the previous owner did the upgrade and didn't tell me when he sold me the car. The shop did say the rotors looked worn but I had about 40% left on the pads. Is it normal for the rotors to still warp after the upgrade? I went and bought the 231s hoping they would fit without trimming anything but the guy said I would need a whole new spindle to make them fit. So I ended up with new pads and rotors and the same calipers I had before. Anyone have similar experiences in the past or advice or insight into why they warped? The previous owner only had it for 40,000 miles or so. Thanks.

Well you guys will love this. So the shop goes to put the new Tundra rotors on my supposedly 199 calipers and says they won't fit. So I go back there and say show me where. I compared the old calipers to the new 199's I got yesterday and sure enough they're different. So I'm getting a Tundra brake upgrade after all. I guess the lesson here is that I need to learn how to do all this myself...

I'm a little confused on what you're saying but here's some facts. The stock 4Runner calipers and the Tundra 13we (199mm) calipers are almost exactly the same. If you purchased the 13we (199's) and handed them to your mechanic, he's gonna say they're the same as whats on there. The only difference between the two calipers is the Tundra ones have a slightly wider cavity to accommodate the thicker Tundra rotors. You can't use 231mm pads in the 199 calipers. You'll need the larger 13wl calipers if you want those. If you're just doing the Tundra 13we 199mm calipers, you can use the Tundra rotors. That is all you're getting with that upgrade.

its possible to get pulsation yes. because that is usually due to uneven friction material build up, and NOT from being warped.

Whole new spindle? Wtf?

Tundra calipers bolt right up. The only thing that would cause interference would be the dust shield. It's just a thin piece of sheet metal. You trim a little bit off (I used a pair of Cutco scissors on mine) to accommodate the larger calipers.
