Tundra brake upgrade question.

I know there are multiple threads out there. I have done some research. I been wanting to do the brake upgrade due to a couple close calls in my 4runner. Its time to upgrade to better brakes now that I am in Colorado. I need better braking for the snow.

I have been trying to price everything from NAPA, Advance, and Autozone. Well I got an email from 4wheelparts. There happens to be one 5 mins from my house. Has anyone used this set up. It is for a 2002 Tundra. I have the oem 5 spoke wheels so I should be good.

It is a powerstop performance brake kit. Rotors, calipers, and pads. Its 470.97 before my military discount. This seems to be the cheapest route. I will end up swaping out the rotors, but for now it will work. Anyone used this before or any reviews on it?

Welcome to the Springs!! Its awesome here. Anyways just so you know, brakes have zero to do with helping you stop in snow. Just like 4wd has zero to do with helping you stop in snow. Only thing that helps that is a good driver and some nice tires.

Now on to the powerstop are trash. You want POWERSLOT!! Powerslot is known for being some great rotors in the import world. Im not sure if they make them for ours but powerstop I believe where made to take some of there market and trick people into there rotors. They are ebay crap IMO. Others may like them.

That being said OEM or brembo. Some of the cheaper slotted race rotors are known to warp. I would avoid. But thats just me.

Thanks. I am excited to be here.Can't wait to hit some trails up. Probably in the next day or two. Yea I was not a big fan of the rotors. All the calipers I find on the web sites have like a 40-50 core charge on the calipers. Are there websites that have them cheaper? I do want Powerslot rotors or brembo.
 
go to napa and get the eclipse calipers. they are remanned and they come painted. in the 3 years here at the dealership we have had 0 issues with eclipse coming back.

Not sure, I got mine from Napa, they are holding up very well. I went OEM rotors, oem pads/shims (expensive ones, OEM sell cheap and expensive pads), and NAPA calipers and my brakes work awesome. Just make sure you go Powerslot, not powerstop, just remember stop in the name means STOP DONT BUY! LOL. Also powerslots will be about $100+ each as where slots are $100 for a pair. Big difference but worth it.

Only issue I had was my painted eclipse calipers dont look so painted anymore. LOL.

What did they do? Brembo oem replacements are not the best. You want there sport disc rotors. Like the ones installed on almost every stock newer high performance cars like Corvettes, Evos and so on. But are pretty pricey. Regular brembos are like $80 each. I say oem is best bet for most.

I wasn't expecting the OEM replacements to have the quality of their OEM sports/performance car or BBK rotors, but they weren't much better than the $45 parts store brand rotors manufactured in china.
 
You guys do know that OEM Tundra rotors are $57 at Toyota of Dallas right? Can't beat it the price and quality.

On a side note I was surprised to see the 2015 Corvettes have slotted rotors. I had thought the slotted rotors thing was all hype but obviously not!
 
Where do you think the consumer market got the slotted and cross drilled rotor fad from? High performance race applications. Granted 99.9% of the consumer market that has slotted or cross drilled rotors will never recognize the benefit of them but they do exist for a reason.
