Just a warning in a noob to the 4runner scene. Yes I have used the search and google, I have all the info to do this upgrade. I didn't want to be one of the new guys bugging all of you expert 4runner guys with a question I haven't looked up yet lol. So my question to you guys is I found a set of calipers on eBay and I want to see if it's legit or not. It seems like I might have to pay more since I don't have a core to return for these but there powder coated and they are the 13wl calipers. Just want to get your guys info. Thanks

This company even has a whole setup with rotors and pads for about a 100.00 more

I still haven't done the Tundra upgrade either but this seems like an easy way to have everything delivered to your door ready to go. Hopefully someone a bit more knowledgeable on the topic will stop in and give their .02 .

Agreed!! I'm ready to pull the trigger tonight and I don't want to get ahead of myself if someone can tell me different.

No experience with that set up. But, I have used Wearever (I think that's the name) from Advance Auto twice. Got the whole kit: calipers, pads and rotors for under $300. Great quality, I have no issues with them. Throw in $8 for a can of caliper paint and you're all set. Just bake them in the oven for about 10 minutes at 250* first to get all the anti corrosion coating off before painting.

It looks like the price is 210. And it also has a core charge. So after the core return its 2 calipers for about 100 bucks?

I ordered brembo blank rotors with pads already. But i still need calipers. I don't care for the red paint. I prefer black. Think ill order these also.

I think you have that backwards. It's $210 after the cores are returned. $210 + the core charge. Then the core charge gets refunded.

You might be correct actually. Just tried adding them to my cart and it does say the total is $195. Very inexpensive calipers. Wondering what the shipping cost to return the cores would run though or if that is also included.

The policy says it will have a return shipping label. must be returned within 30 days..

well.. I just placed an order.. Thank OP for the link.. I hope it turns out well.. I hate red calipers but for the price ill deal with it. I hope it does not turn pink overtime.

I also hope this upgrade is worth it.. Because my brakes are fairly new and I only feel a slight shimmy on hard braking.

Wow ,there really is a callahan brake company ? i thought it was a made up company in the movie Tommy Boy .keep us posted as to how these work out .

Aaahhh... Yeah.. Tommy Boy is real.. Like all rich spoiled kids they get a chance to take over daddy's company..

The calipers did not say if they were 13wl.. I emailed them to make sure it is before they ship..

IMO you can probably get away with just tundra rotors to take away the warping since they are thicker.. However I like my vehicles to stop on a dime.. My acura came with brembo setup and its fantastic.

No I don't think just Tundra rotors will swap over to the 4Runner. If you're refering to the 199mm rotors, yes they are the same diameter as stock, but they're thicker and the stock 4Runner caliper doesn't open wide enough for the 199mm rotor. I'm pretty sure it's all or nothing when it comes to Tundra brakes; either pad, rotors, and calipers, or nothing.

IC.. thanks for clearing that up.. I should be good to go.. The pair of rotors are heavy. 45lbs.. I hope they send me the correct calipers.

Yeah, that's not a specially great deal, except for having them powder coated. I am guessing that they will reject your core if you send them back different calipers. Advance didn't care.

I got mine at advance auto using their typical 40% off coupons and ended up getting both calipers for around $90. Brembo rotors from Amazon and pads from Napa and I came away for around $200 for everything.
