Tundra coils and shocks with ??? For the rear?

Hey all,

As many of you might already know, I've been looking into different front lift setups I can get. I'm almost sure I want to go with the Tundra swap, but can I still use my 890 coils in the rear?? Will I still have some rake? Should I get a Cornfed Spacer for the rear? I hear the Tundra upgrade yields 2.5" of lift, is that about the same as my Toytec spacer lift or a little higher?

Truth be told, I'm thinking of adding a Cornfed Spacer in the back, rockin the new Tundra stuff in front, and hoping that the combination will give me a little more lift than my straight 890's and Front Toytec spacer.

If any of you guys are using this setup, or know someone that is, can you post some pics?

from what ive seen most people that are running tundra coils are also running lc coils in the rear. If youre looking for more rear lift that is a cheap option and will probably ride better then if you add a spacer. You could probably sell your old coils for enough to cover the cost of the lc coils if you decided to go that route.

I am running the tundra coils with Bilsteins up front and 890s in the rear. I have a 10mm trim packer in the back (or maybe it was 5mm don't remember) and I have a slight rake. I prefer things level and most guys probably would not notice the rake. It has been awhile and some of my parts came with the 4runner sitting in the back.
 
I run tundra coils and adjustable (TUNDRA) bilsteins in the front, so my question is what shocks are you going to put up front? If you go with adjustable you may be able to set them to sit level with your current rear setup. I have 9 wrap LC coils in the rear and have a slight rake, I also run TUNDRA bilstein 5100's in the rear and it like a caddy. And I x2 on what Trailmix said, you can normally pick up a set of LC coils for $50 and you could probably sell you OME for twice that.
 
I'm looking in to doing this. Do I need to look for a specific year of tundra or do I need to find a specific color code? Do I need to look for a TRD tundra or stock?

Sorry for so many questions or hijacking. My buddy has a trd tundra (2002 or 2003 i think) he lifted and i might ask him if he has his front suspension still..

You want 1st gen Tundra TRD coils, they are color coded yellow/blue and yellow/yellow

same here. i love the set up. mines pretty level, maybe 1/2 inch higher in the rear, but this set up is exactly what i need for daily use and loading down gear for camping/ hauling.

That I don't know, but if you can I don't imagine they would give you much lift. Probably similar to using "tall" 99 coils...?

I went to the parts counter at my local Stealership, and they didn't know what I was talking about, when I mentionned the "dots".

I ended up finding out that yellow/blue and Yellow Yellow coils are from a TRD Tundra Access Cab 4X4 (Thanks to Blckstpr for giving me some part numbers).

Now I'm searching for that.....


I'd still like to see some pics of your rigs with the tundra/890 setup though.......

These are the part#'s to the Tundra TRD coils: 48131-AF090 & 48131-AF100

Yup! These are the part numbers Blkstpr gave me! But buying them from the Stealership here is PRICEY, and wrecking yards don't have them around here. I'm now looking at a set on Ebay from North Dakota.

Another option I tried was to go to NAPA or another same type of parts supplier, and see if they had any Stock Replacement coils.......they are not available yet!!!

So far, it's either go to the Stealership, or wreckingyard or a used set off Ebay........

I've been scoping around on craiglist. Maybe someone parting out a TRD or selling them. Maybe another option for you. Maybe the classifieds on this site or another toyota fourm.

Just throwin out ideas!

Well, looks like I just bought myself a set of 2000 Tundra TRD Coils and Struts! I'm getting them off an Auto Recycler called Nordstroms Automotive Inc. from North Dakota. I have apparently purchased them for $320.00 US shipped to my door. Now to wait and see how long it takes to get them here!

I'd still like to see some pics of your rigs with this Tundra setup in the front and the 890's in the back........so please don't be shy!

Depending on what kind of lift I get with the front, I may do the Cornfeds in the rear to give me some rake....
