Tundra coils

I've done a fair amount of searching and haven't been able to find much information as to where on earth people have sourced their tundra coils from!?!?! I've been keeping an eye on the forums here and over at tundrasolutions, as well as searching eBay and craiglist pretty frequently. I figure with the number of guys running these lifts there has to be something I'm missing with as much trouble as I'm having. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

And just for all those "have you tried the search function" questions. Rest assured, I have done a ton of searching around on this matter.

after weeks of searching the closest I got was that I was only few days late to a for sale post at a tundra forum.

There were few variations w/ in the 2000-2006 tundras so if a junkyard is out of your reach, it's difficult to confirm via phone.

Finally, I just dished out for a new set from an online toyota dealer (i.e. cameback toyota) to ensure I was getting the right parts.

It's a very popular setup so it's harder to find a used set.

Is it worth keeping the stock bilstein shocks on them if they are on there when their purchased? Or do most folks go ahead and spring for the 5100's?

I searched for about a month and finnaly got a set within 50 miles, had 170k on them, played 100 for them installed and they were fine, but not the lift I wanted, so I picked up the 5100s for the adjustability.they were also pulled with some1.5" top plate spacers for the tundra... That I have no use for, lol.
Really the only other source would be new from Toyota, locally they would cost me 200 a side for coils... I would rather put that money elsewhere.

Best bet like stated is salvage yards. The coils you are looking for are on the tundras that where not lifted as much as some of the newer ones making it hard to find them. I searched for a good set for months before just going OME up front and LC coils out back.

I'd suggest just spending a few more buck and buying some OME 881 or 882 from Wheelers. You'll get them for about $180 a set and be done with it. The 881 will give you about the same lift as the Tundra, the 882 (or 883) 2" to 3" lift. You might find those cheaper - I bought a set of 883s on this forum for $110.

I payed 90 for the pair, but my buddy and i had to pull them. it was out of a fugly step side limited tundra. we took the hood and used it as a shield and slowly cranked the top nut off, the spring went flying, it was hilarious. sidenote, you can just pull an entire tundra strut and put it in a 3rd gen, but the holes need to be ground out slightly to make the top plate fit.

I guess if I'm going to be looking all around junk yards, I should ask this question. What exactly years and trim packages did they come out of? I've seen so much information that's all over the place about this.

That's funny. I'm imagining scenes from gladiator. I know it's all about timing but I've never been able to come across those the few times I went salvage yards.

i got mine out of a limited extended cab 4wd, but ive heard they came on a lot of the different style crew cabs with 4wd. if its a tundra its worth it to take a look.

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market ... call every junkyard (starting from lowest to highest price) and make them physically put hands on the coils to verify YY/YB. Got to be kind of aggressive. Unless you don't want to, then that's fine.
