This is a new to me 1999 SR5 with 158,000 miles on the clock. I had some time after pulling the rear drivers side axle because of a bad bearing causing gear oil to leak, so I decided to do a tune-up. I installed new NKG plugs and NGK wires, new O2 sensor, cleaned the throttle plate. Some joker had these plugs installed and used a totally different plug on #3. What gives with people. They go to all the trouble to change the plugs and can't even use the right parts.
These engines use a wasted sparked ignition and on 3 cylinders the spark is going in the reverse direction, from ground to electrode. These Quad Bosch are not even compatible for this system. I guess that could explain the poor gas mileage I was getting at around 14 mpg. Actually it felt more like 14 gpm.
