Im not a turbo expert, but the 22rte has much lower compression than the normal 22re. Not sure if thats going to play a factor or not.

While what the guy told you at the meet is true, you can turbo a 22R/RE without internal modifications. He neglected to mention how dicey a proposition it really is. As far as 5-8 psi goes....your going to have a hard time reaching that level of boost with stock compression without grenading your pistons and popping head gaskets like crazy.
