Turbonator VS. Air Raid Throttle Body Spacer (personal experience only please)

Hey, I'm sure this has already been posted, but i'm curious on if anyone has any personal experience with it. Does it help gas milage? performance? make things worse? any differance in throttle response?? Is there a difference between the Air Raid Throttle Body Spacer and a Turbonator? Does an Air Raid TBS do anything?? What if i combine the two??

I use the Vortex Valve which is the same thing as the turbonator. It has decreased my gas mileage by probably 2mpgs. It gives better throttle response though and more torque. I also run a K&N Filter and the $30 redline chip from ebay. These 3 things together have given me a significant power increase and I think I could give a stock V8 a run. I am thinking about taking out the vortex valve though with gas prices being so high and just putting it in for towing. Hope this helps.

What kind of increase are you gettign with the redline chip?

I have been searching for that redline chip on ebay and i have could not find it for our 4runners. Any more information would be great!

When I installed the redline I noticed a difference in the shifting. I also noticed a better throttle response. I took the truck for a run around the block and I was pretty impressed. Apparently a lot of people have been having problems with this but I have not experienced any. All it is is a resistor that tells the computer to run at the optimal temperature range of 55 degrees or something like that. For the $30 i spent I am happy.

To annswer your question I really do not know what increase I have received from any of these products. All I do know is that with the addition of the redline and the vortex valve I have a quicker car than I took home from the lot.

Check THIS link and search 4runner in the model. It says 87-04 in the description but when you look at the listing it states to the current production year.

Do you have a dyno graph? Before and after 1/4 mile runs (with similar atmospheric conditions)? 99.99% of these types of mods are pure garbage. Your SOTP meter (seat of the pants) will tell you that there's a performance increase because that's what you want to believe, but I can promise you that without hard numbers to prove claims, these types of things are gimics.

I have not done any dyno runs but I know that with the vortex valve in I get a quicker throttle response. I removed it last week and I have to push down on my pedal more to get the same response that I had when it was in. I am not going to spend money to run my truck on the dyno but I can definitely tell the difference. Since I removed it though I am getting at least 1 more mpg. It is not worth the 70 dollars though at all IMO. I took out the K&N as well. Just have the redline in now which I feel gave the best increase.
