Turn/Hazard Signals not working

The turn and hazard signals are dead/not working at all. Fuse is fine. Bulbs are fine.

Any ideas?

No recent work done to change anything...signals have been working fine since the day I bought the truck.

I would first ensure turn signals and flasher are not on the same fuse.

After that I would wonder about relay(s).

On other forums I've seen reports that a bad turn signal stalk can cause this, but do not know if this would apply to a 5th Gen 4 Runner.

I would wonder about relay(s).

There is a relay somewhere that controls this. Its the noise you typically hear in the cabin while the blinker flashes. In my toyota solara this relay was in the driver footwell on the left. Not sure where it is in the 4runner but if i had to guess thats what the problem is. It was working fine and just stops working (had this relay go out in my solara at about 150k miles). Should be ~$10-20 for the part and should only take you like 10 mins to locate, pull, and replace the relay.

Is that a ARB Front bumper?
If so that could be your problem.
My Blinkers went out after about 4 years of rain, snow and oh yes, salt.
It was the DRL/blinker unit itself. There not water tight and everything corroded.
I called ARB and they sent a new pair for free
Some guys replaced them with LED units

I wanted to post the 'Turn signal/Hazard' prints to offer just a bit more 'Scheme' clarity. BTW:...I love the way [MENTION=115953]HerT4R[/MENTION] approaches this problem, much from a 'meat-n-potatoes'... "Shoot the culprit 'NOW' right between the eyes ...we'll advise him of his rights when there's a bit more time"... lol; I love that(!!), and she's absolutely correct. There is more than one power source that feeds the 4Way Hazards and Turn signals, let's see what the wiring diagram has to say; "Exterior lamps circuit" (pages 1 and 2):

The RED arrows show the 'Turn signal/Hazard flasher Module' and the page's Match line (upper right side) where the first and next pages are connected and transition to the next wiring diagram. The BLUE arrows mark the incoming power feeds to the turn signal module, from the two fuse/junction boxes: Driverside fusebox and Main Fuse/RLY box (Engine RM).



So far 'just at a glance' I see three fuses that pertain to the Turn signal/4-Way Hazard lamps module of interest: one IG1 fuse 7.5A one Turn & Hazard fuse 15A and the Towing fuse 30A. My guess is that it'll be something simple that's causing you all this grief, so be sure to check each one of these fuses and let us know what happens; I'll be happy to go into this further if needed,

Bumper is not the problem - I already switch the turn signals to LED long ago knowing about the issue. Thanks!

the better question is did the "blinker/hazard noise" cease? If there is no noise, then i'm betting relay...

Before you spend a 'bunch-o-cash' at the dealership see if this part will do the job: OE 8198002050 Turn Signal Flasher Relay Fuse Fit RAV4 Matrix Solara Camry | eBay If you go to the webpage you'll see that it fits 2010 4Runner (OEM); $28 bucks ain't that bad! ...Let us know!

Did you ever figure out if the relay was the issue or not? I'm having the same problem and found the 15amp fuse for the flashers blown. Replaced the fuse and the left signal is working fine but the right side just blinks once and stops. Same for hazards, they blink once when the button is pressed and then stop.

My front left turn signal went out and then my right front turn signal light went out about a week later. My hazards are still working along with my back turn signals. I've tried replacing the bulbs and checked the fuse. Is this a bad turn signal flasher relay? How do I check the relay before spending $50 for a part I don't need? Thanks.

Hi Danny,

I wouldn't go after the turn signal/Hazard light module just yet; mostly because it still functions. I'd check ALL related fuses... refer back to the wiring prints that were provided in Jan, 2016. There are three related fuses to the module/relay... one is 7.5A (driverside fusebox) one is 15A and the other (trailer hitch) is 30A (both in Engine rm)!

(I doubt you'll find any bad fuses!) The other thing that I'd check is the continuity to the bulbs that are out; Toyota turn signal & stop lights seem to be vulnerable to wear/corrosion/poor contact due to weakening copper tabs in the sockets... if I had a nickle for every one of those bad one's that I've seen... so definitely check each one that isn't working.

You can even p/u a $5.99 test light (if you don't already have a multi-meter) from Auto-zone and check for power, at the fuses, then the sockets; I think there's where you'll find your trouble! Please be sure to let us know what you find out; just that it may help the next person with a similar problem, it happens here a lot! 'Best to you',
