Turn signal bulb only working with hazards

I’ve got a bit of a weird situation. I recently bought some LED replacement bulbs for my high and low beams from Xenon. It was during their Black Friday sale so I got a free pair of front turn signal bulbs for my purchase.

After I installed my high and low beam bulbs I wanted to see how the turn signals would look and just replaced the front left signal bulb, without the included resistor (didn’t have time to install that part), and as expected it worked but had the hyper flash when I turned the signal on. So I reinstalled the OEM bulb and didn’t realize till the next day that now my turn signal with the OEM bulb is not working.

The bulb will work if my headlights are on and will work and flash normally if my hazards are on. However, if I turn my left turn signal on it will not flash at all and my dash signal and rear signal will hyper flash as if a bulb is out.

Anyone have any ideas of what it could be? I’ve removed and replaced the turn signal fuse in both the instrument panel and engine fuse panel and no change in the signal.

The incandescent front turn signal bulbs are type 7443, which are dual filaments. One filament, the low power one, is illuminated when you turn on the parking lights or low beam headlights. The other filament is illuminated when the turn signal is On (blinking). And when the hazards are blinking.

The LED equivalent bulb will mimic this operation by lighting up more LED chips when the blinkers and hazards are on.

If the OEM bulb is working when the headlights are on but not with the blinkers, the low power filament may be OK but the high power filament is broken, maybe it got damaged when you removed or replaced it.
Or one of the thin wires on the bulb plug end got moved or is damaged.
Or maybe the socket is damaged, although those contacts are more robust.

Take out the OEM bulb and examine it for a broken filament or goofy external wires. Check the socket contacts for proper alignment. Some LED bulbs have thicker bases and when inserted they spread the socket contacts further apart. You may have to squeeze them closer together. Get a known good OEM bulb and install it in the socket. Make sure both filaments work with parking lights on and blinkers on and flashers on. Good luck.

Wow, seems like something I should’ve already known, but I have never heard that the bulbs have different filaments. I’ll get a new bulb and try it out or try your other suggestions if that doesn’t work.
