turn signal burnt, then isn't, then... is?

The right front turn signal bulb on my 2003 sr5 blew out the other week, which was all fine and dandy, took five minutes, and replaced it. A few days later, it burns out again. I had it in at the dealer for something unrelated, so I had them replace it. My right turn signal is doing the tell-tale quick flashing again now, but every now and then, it will start working properly again. Has anyone else had this problem, or have any idea what might make it become so temperamental?

check the sockets on the turn signal, clean it and put the bulb back in, make sure to check both front and back, and if u had a stereo done, check the hazzard switch, plug might be loose in the back.

Exactly. I had a similar thing happen to my left turn signal/DRL. Clean the socket with contact cleaner first to see if that does the trick. My socket was fried (shorted out somehow) so cleaning it wouldn't do a thing. My dealership had it in stock, cost was around $9. Took 5 seconds to install and I did it in the parking lot of the dealer.

Can the turn signal socket be easily removed from the vehical? or is it easiest to try and clean it while it dangling under the 4runner?

you can also just check the bulb type. I have run into the same problem with a set of bulbs i bought at auto-zone. They did not "click" into position like my older ones and therefore they just kind of sat in the socket.

This caused them to jar loose over time

Super easy to remove, just turn and pull it out, then unplug the wire harness and it's out.
