Turn signal solid when press the brakes

Hi all,

I've tried searching the internet to find reasons for why my right turn signal turns on when I press my brakes. I have a 2001 Toyota Hilux SW4 4x4 w/ TRD S/C (aka 4Runner in the states) and this problem started after I replaced the rear right turn signal. Now, every time I press the brakes, the right turn signal (on my dash and the exterior of the car) turns on. I have tried flipping the way the bulb was plugged in, thinking that might be the problem, but to no avail.

I am thinking it could possibly be a grounding issue but I have no idea where to start. I am getting ready to go outside and rip out (gently of course) the rear side panel of my truck in order to chase the wires.

Any and all help would be and is greatly appreciated.

Tchau and thank you,

Brandon

Check the grounding on the wires and try some fresh bulbs.

any tow package electrical connector?

it sounds like your brake signal and turn signal input are combined.

Just for grins do your dash lights or any exterior lights ( we call them parking lights here in the US) illuminate when you press on the brakes? Try this in the evening to be sure...you might not notice in the daylight. Enlist a buddy to watch your exterior lights (front and or sides) as you depress the brake pedal.

your symptom sounds like a failure of the converter black box or perhaps simply a pinched wire.

Let's get some more details going here. You are overseas?
