TV/DVD Player

Well my wife's lease is just about on her 06 Sport, so I am surprising her tomorrow with an 08 Urban 4Runner in Blizzard Pearl...She has been talking about one since we saw the Blizzard Pearl at the mall a few months ago. Anyway we have two small kids so we want to put an overhead TV/DVD player in it. Can anybody recommend any particular model to get? Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you lease vehicles or trade on a regular basis I suggest headrest monitors. Its more upfront, but in a year or so when you trade your vehicle, instead of having to get another overhead TV installed all you'll need is a blank set of headrests. I would use Vizualogic for the headrests, otherwise I suggest Audiovox/movies2go for the overhead.

Thanks...We leased her last vehicle, but I bought this one. She loved her 06 so much it was just dumb to lease and with the financing Toyota was offering I couldn't pass it up. I have headrest monitors in my 09 Murano and love them, so maybe I will go that route, but nobody makes them for the Urban 4runner yet.

Thanks..issue is the Urban 4runner has black leather headrests so I am not sure which headrests would be a match. I have headrest monitors in my Murano from www.headrestvideo.com It is a very nice setup, but they don't have the leather for the Urban 4runner.

Well if you read the write up, the point is that if you want something specific, have it custom done like I did. No one makes them for the black sport interior either.

If you want to go the easier route, try the FJ Cruiser factory DVD headrests #PT900-35070. They appear to be made by Audiovox and are 7" size, black and leather or leather look alike at least.

Trail Duty had the best price at $1500. Remember this is a dual dvd system, you can play two different dvds at one time. Also the fabric was custom done locally as Vizualogic does not make 2006+ Sport Ed. fabric.

headrestvideo.com actually has a better price and a full touch screen system. I have one in my 09 Murano and it is great. Being that my Urban 4runner has leather headrests I am leaning on getting a system from them again. I need to send them one of my headrests so they can match up the leather..

No, watching the DVD on the Nav is not something that interests me at this time so I have not attempted to mod that. There is a company that sells hookups to do that I believe, but again...not something I need or have time to do right now.

Headphones are 2 channel wireless. There is also a provision for wired headphones. Additionally, there is a wireless FM modulator that allows audio playback through the vehicle's stereo speakers, which is actually very nice so little ones dont have to wear the headset. .
