My stockers were dead and I had some cheap leftover tweeters laying around from an old car, so I put them in. They are nothing special or expensive but music is much clearer then before and until I do a complete sound system overhaul, they work fine.
All I did was pop the door panel and tweeter cover off to expose the wire and actual tweeter. The tweeter is held on to the door with a small bracket and a screw from the bracket to the back of the tweeter. I removed the screw, pulled the tweeter off the bracket and reinstalled the bracket to the door. Took some really strong double sided foam tape and stuck the new tweeter to the bracket. Wired them up and reinstalled the covers and door panels.

If you want some speakers you can grow into, get a nice type-r 6.5 componext setup. Spr-50c or spr-60c I believe the part number was. I paid $135 for mine and they are excellent speakers. Running 119 watts rms to mine and they sound amazing.
I did like the poster above me and usedindustrial velcro to hold mine on. Fit just right inside the factory tweeter cover with no trimming.

FYI, unless you have an amp running to your front components (you said there's an amp for your sub, but not sure about the other 4 channels) don't spend a whole lot on new speakers.
High quality speakers with no amp and just the head unit's output (usually 15-20 RMS) will not sound a whole lot better than the low-mid price range speakers. If you still have the 19 year old stock speakers in there then a new component system sounds like would be your best option.

I kept the stock tweeters and just swapped in alpine midbasses in the doors from a component set. The stock tweeters sound great.

Components can be a bit tricky to install since the crossovers don't fit where the dinky little stock ones are so you might have to get creative. I basically had to wire it on my own, but I'm decent with a soldering iron so it wasn't too bad. Or have an audio shop do it.
I recently installed a set of Infinity Reference components in the front doors. Re ran all the wiring and put the crossovers under the front seats on each side.
Installed a Rockford 4x75W RMS amp under the drivers seat to drive them, along with a set of Infinity Reference 2-Ways in the rear doors. I have the gain set to about 6, and this thing cranks.
Oh, and I used double sided tape in on the exiting brackets for the tweeters.
I may invest in some new door clips (I broke a few) and some sound deadening in the doors, to keep the old plastic rattling sounds down.

Sounds like you read my thread LOL. I love the new Infinity Reference series speakers, definitely some of the best you can buy in that price range.
Replace those door clips when you can, they make the panels vibrate a lot. For me, the worst rattle once I added bass to my sound was from the little door lock pop-up things on top. Really odd. They'd make as much noise as a rattlesnake when the right frequencies were played.

Thanks, had to drill a big hole in the stock tweeter grill and used the included mount. Turned the mount upside-down and they mounted right up, was going to use bondo to smooth everything out but when I was done it looked good enough to leave alone and be done with it.
Very happy with the sound quality of the Polks.
You got it! I just didn't mount the crossovers in the doors, because it was a bit damp in there.

Take a look at my build, I threw some really solid mid grade speakers from kicker in. Made a world of difference, and gave me the option to up the power later.
Does anyone have any experience running new speaker wire? I've always heard upgrade the quality of the wiring as you upgrade the speakers.
