Two timing 4Runner

Just picked up a second 4Runner. 98 SR5. 240,000 miles. Super clean and maintained. Very little rust anywhere. But... Needs a tranny from the pink milkshake. It drove fine for 2 years after the failure the previous owner said. Replaced radiator and flushed several times. Changed filter also. slipping real bad now. So now I got a stable mate for my 97 SR5 that needs a tranny. Going to pick one up out of a 99 next week. Then the 97 is for sale.

Do your research on if the trans from a 99 will work. I thought it was 96-98. Than possibly 99-00 then 01-03

I thought I had read 2001-2002 were different with the electronic throttle. I may be wrong. I'll look into into more before I go get the tranny. I've got choices in trannys.

Maybe I will get lucky and someone will answer your question so I don't have to do my research. I have a mechanically good 97 DD that I want to restore and modify the undercarriage. So I bought a 2000 milkshake for 14 hundred dollars to use as a daily driver. It runs fine now but I want to replace the transmission before summer.
