I heard a depressing stat today that twice as many children have been shot in school shootings so far this year than service people have died in combat related death...
Meaning high schools are statistically more dangerous than war.

I don’t think that’s a fair stat. The numbers just don’t correlate. But regardless, it’s an outrageous number and depressing that kids have to worry about getting shot in school.

Unrelated, but someone here had an interesting point which had me thinking. A common argument is, if the good guys get their guns taken away, the bad guys will be the only one with guns. But, ‘responsible’ gun owners have been ****ing this up for school shootings. A good majority of these school shootings come from kids that took their parents weapons.

This issue is many generations in the making. The only solutions will take as long or longer to undue or mitigate. This country is no stranger to atrocities committed abroad or domestically, but these terrorist attacks effect How our children develop in their own schools. i want to solve this crisis as fast as possible, but I don't think "we" can. I think it will have to be our children who live in this mess to shape it. I'm not deferring responsibility from "us", we have to give them the tools. We need security at all of our schools since the government can get nothing done. This has happened under Democratic and Republican presidents. Columbine was 1999 under Clinton. So Clinton twice, Bush twice, Obama twice, that’s 24 years of both parties doing nothing. So yes it is nice to see the young stepping up to try to change things and I believe things will. But it will take a lot of work and time.

But it will take a lot of work and time.

Just some food for thought. There are roughly 100,000 public schools in the US. Figure around $60,000 salary to have a reasonably trained officer? That's $6 billion dollars a year. And in the end, we've seen that does nothing to guarantee safety. Santa Fe had two officers on campus. Yes, they most likely reduced the number of victims, but is reduction the goal? Schools are already struggling to afford basic needs for their students.

School funding and school budgets, we have to control our spending and put it where it needs to be. The waste at every level leaves little for important things. In my town we use a police officer already working on the force, he is just assigned to the school. 5 schools in town each has an officer. No extra money spent, budget is the same.

I also admire anyone who stands up for what they believe. But let's be honest about a few things here:

1) These kids are being used and funded by Soro's, Bloomberg, Et al. They didn't just plan and fund these marches during 3rd period...

It's sad to see them be used as puppets. Very sad.

2) consider their message- "we are kids and kids under 18 shouldn't be trustEd with responsibility like guns. But our opinions matter on the subject even though we aren't adult enough to handle responsible ownership of a tool that has been owned by by people our age who were responsible for centuries". "Oh and if you disagree with us and counter our opinions, we are just kids you can't do that!"

3) Most of these kids couldn't even recite to you one amendment let alone the entire bill of rights, and any kid who actually had a pro 2A stand gets swept under the rug and ignored in the lame stream media. Not to mention getting in trouble at school for those views.It's disgusting the bias and agenda that's being driven here by millionaire politicians turned activists and the media.

That may work where you live, but again it's a numbers game when you speak nationally. For example, the school district I live within, there are 35 schools. No way we have the resources to have 35 of our officers assigned to them all. And as far as area goes, it is a small district. Seattle's district alone has over 120 schools.

I do completely agree that there is waste at every level that needs to be cleaned up.
