TX - Santa Fe High School Shooting

to me.
We have no real cultural identity base like the rest of the world, we are a 'melting pot' of the rest of the cultures of the world and their cultures. The act of trying to get along will allways be difficult if we refuse to modify our ideas with the changing world.

Recommded listen —-> Podcast Episode “Is this the end of Europe” https://samharris.org/podcasts/is-this-the-end-of-europe/

Europe on the other hand is tearing itself apart. One has to wonder if the Secular West is even compatible at all with those who choose to live a deeply religious life that doesn’t adhere to Western Values. At what point does your society start to break apart, terrorism gets out of control etc?

My friend, I implore you to moderate your information intake to be more inclusive. Polarization is a condition of constant confirmation bias which most often disregards any opposing information as invalid, without merit or value.

Do better. If not for others, do better for yourself. I say this with sincerity. You've been just short of belligerent throughout the entirety of this thread, adding nothing of value to the conversation. If you have well-thought, well-researched, well-constructed responses that offer some level of concession to contrasting arguments/ideas, then you'll be part of generating beneficial and valuable dialogue.

Let's aim for that in the future, eh?

lawwwwwwwl, The only thing you have introduced to this thread is a shitty meme we have all seen and a survey of a tiny population of liberals rating the_donald an F thus far on his presidency.

Im glad you implore me to be more inclusive of your bullshit but after a few years of constant lies from the DNC and the media I think I would rather not.

We have to ask why are Kids increasingly even entertaining the thought of taking a gun to school to get revenge?.....Guns were far more accessible in my youth than they are now....all my friends and I had our OWN rifles in our closets at 10 and it never entered our mind that we could use them against anyone no matter the perceived injustice against us......it just wasn't even an option to consider. Maybe I just answered my own question......our Moral base was so much more instilled than Kids today with their Liberal ''Everybody gets a trophy'' mentality.................

I heard a depressing stat today that twice as many children have been shot in school shootings so far this year than service people have died in combat related death...
Meaning high schools are statistically more dangerous than war.

Maybe it is because marines have firearms and shoot back? That stat has no correlation. Not that I'm suggesting arming teachers but allowing teachers/staff/guards that get conceal carry licenses to carry in school and not make it a 15 minute shooting spree for whoever walks in might do some good.

You just disproved yourself. If we took away firearms from service people I would guess the statistics would be a lot closer. Is that what you want? Are children not as important as service men and women? Should we not be able to protect them with more than a sign that says no guns?

Conceal carry permit holders are convicted of misdemeanors and felonies at less than a sixth the rate for police officers.

Europe on the other hand is tearing itself apart.

And yet here we have a country full of people STILL threatening to leave our country and emulate that we should be more like Europe which is clearly collapsing on itself due to poor laws and being P.C. Obviously something for another thread, but at least we can agree that Euro is a shit show right now.

I haven't met anyone threatening to actually leave America. Is that a real thing that is actually happening....

A ton of progressives threatened to move to Canada if Trump won the election.

Of course it was a hollow threat, and really not a threat at all when you think about it, I'd love the progressives to leave America we'd all be better off!

It would only be a wash if the number of crimes prevented equalled the number of accidental/suicide incidents. Which it most definitely does not.

Different cultures are nothing new to this country. Every generation saw waves of different immigrant influxes. It has had a huge effect on how the country was shaped to what we see today. I think what you're seeing today is an emphasis on identifying it to fit a political narrative.

Defensive gun use versus offensive gun use/crime is 3:1 ratio using the most conservative of projections/statistics. Some stats/projections out it as high as 300:1. Even if we use the most conservative stats the picture is clear.

So you're right, but not in the way you think you are. It definitely wouldn't be a wash. It would be a massive net negative as people can't use a gun defensively that is locked up, and people who really want that locked up gun can easily get to it or use something else to inflict harm.

Most of those generations saw waves of immigrants who wanted to culturally assimilate and live the American dream .

That's just not the case anymore. Most just want free handouts or to earn larger wages they can send back to their families in other countries.

careful guys don’t make ndcent look like too much of an idiot, although it is an easy task he will report everyone of you, demand a ban, then demand the thread be closed

Reality having a liberal bias must really be a drag in your simple mind.

Keep deepthroating that Trump dick, justice is coming.

Lol. 78:1. That's the ratio of suicide by gun to justifiable homicide. Not including accidental shootings.

And you've obviously never been to a Chinatown or Little Italy.

You can completely make a valid argument that having a gun in your home makes you feel safer. But that doesn't mean you (or the people around you) are safer.

Not all defensive gun uses end in Homicide. In fact, most don't. You're missing a HUGE chunk of the pie.

Fact: Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day. Most often, the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.

I've posted TONS of statistics and facts on this website in multiple threads. The picture is clear when ALL of the relative statistics are defined and all metrics taken into consideration.

WAY more people protect themselves with guns than are victims of guns.

That homicide rate would go up without people being able to defend themselves, the raw data supports that conclusion over and over.

"Safer" is very relative and is different for different people. "Safety" doesn't exist, it's a construct of man, usually used to control people.

I've used a gun defensively on several occasions. I know first hand what it means to be able to defend yourself and others from violence. In one instance if I did not have a firearm available for that defense then I would most likely be dead based on the scenario, I'm glad I had one so I didn't have to find out.

Based on CDC stats having a pool is less "safe" fro children than having gun in a house, but I've never seen you go on a crusade to limit access to pools or ban high capacity pools. I've never seen or heard of anyone doing that.

You decide if you want a gun or not and I'll do the same, you decide what is needed and necessary for you and yours and I will do the same.

Sound good?

Are those statistics separating private gun incidence with police, military etc etc? Because those are two completely different things.

If you’ve had “several” incidences where you felt having a firearm helped you, then I am most definitely ok with you doing yours and me doing mine.

And for the record, I’m not telling you to not own a gun. I have no issues with people owning them. I personally don’t own one, but have nothing against the idea of owning one at some point. I just have issues with people telling me that they are statistically safer because of it.

My 2nd cents .... hopefully we can strengthen these laws restricting firearms even further.
