Did some additional work on the runner today. Got the new rear sway bar bushings, new rear sway bar links, and all of the associated washers, bushings and nuts for the links installed.

Also went through all of the rear suspension and bumper bolts and retorqued everything back to spec. Found a few that had loosened and needed to be tightened back down.

While I was at it, I did get the rear Sonoran Steel body mounts installed. Was pretty simple although I had to make two shout outs to Steve who was amazingly helpful and supportive as always. If Steve would sell more 3rd gen parts and general off road parts I would look to him for everything first due to his outstanding service. :thumb: I did just get the jack jaw via USPS. New oem Toyota rear links:

New oem Toyota rear sway bushings next to Sonoran HD lower control arms

Factory rear body mounts

New Sonoran Steel rear body mounts sitting on top of my torque check list

Removed center nut and washer from factory mounts

Central bolt is accessed through rear floor below rubber grommet. It is held in place by little tabs.

With two pieces of 4x4, I lifted the body of the truck up enough to pull the old ones out and slip the new ones in

New body mounts in place above frame

New Sonoran Steel rear body mount in place and ready to test out

I got the from Camelback Toyota online. Don't recall the price but probably one of the more affordable things I've replaced on the truck so far. LOL

Those new rear mounts look nice. Have you had a chance to look at your front end for the clunk you're getting? I get the same one after replacing the whole front suspension as well.

No. I tightened all the rear parts to torque spec but got sidetracked.

I'll try to get the front done tonight and see if it helps. I've mentally narrowed it down to a few things in my head but will see.

I'm guessing one of these:

Steering rack not articulating enough
Driveline u-joint or similar
Alignment work not properly torqued down as I think it has moved since first aligned


Will try to rule things out one item at a time with bolt torque check on front up next.

Got the coolant flushed and replaced with Toyota red. It was very dirty and I'm still a little peeved that the shop that put in my new radiator didn't ask if I wanted to flush the system.

Also got a new Toyota fuel filter put on. This pretty much wraps up all my fluid and filter change outs.


Lastly I had the alignment place double check the alignment and it is still spot on from when aligned a few weeks ago. My suspicion that it had moved was wrong which is good news.


Still next on the list is tightening all front end bolts to torque spec.

Steve, got the IR 231C in today from amazon and it looks like it may have a crack in it. I can't tell if this is just due to poor casting or finish work or if it has an actual crack in it. Before I contact Amazon about a replacement I thought I would see what you think since you have one for comparison. Thanks.

Ok thanks. It's the bottom left on the rear that I was seeing. Just not smoothed down like the right side.

I'll get it ready and start putting it to use.

Only been a few days but here is what I think I'm observing.

More road bumps are transmitted to driver than before
More firm feeling when driving
Not noticing any real difference in how much rear tire shakes but mine wasn't as bad as yours

Over all I still have a little bit of a floaty feeling when driving but I'm attributing that to the feeling of any lifted runner until I find a reason to think otherwise.

In prep for interior and electrical work I ordered some LED's for dash refresh as much of my stock interior lighting is so dim it isn't functional. Ordered from superbrightleds.com. I stuck with green as I liked the factory lighting look.

Got the tubing run from my compressor over to my reel and regulator. I've got the compressor here temporarily but will move it closer to the garage door once I get another outlet installed and will extend the tubing then. It's on a 20 amp circuit but I plan to eventually get a dedicated circuit installed for it. I decided to go with standard air tubing rather than hard piping it due to ease and given my low volume usage.

In addition to the dash LEDs I ordered from superbrightleds.com mentioned on prior page, I just ordered a few of these to use in map lights and cargo/dome lights to brighten them up

Few things since last update


Pulled gauge cluster out

End result is a factory looking dash that is mucho brighter. Did all LEDs in the dash as well.

Also put in new flasher relay to deal with LEDs in front bumper. Did the trick but a pain to get to.

Can those LEDs be dimmed or are they just on/off ?

Because I'm considering re-doing my dash lights but I'd like to keep that ability.
