I bought one, exactly as pictured. I think it's a great truck for what it is. And what it is to me is an iconic sport utility vehicle. Snappy styling, thrifty power, and efficient suspension that gets you from Main Street to muddy feet without missing a beat.
The TRDP definitely is noticeably more top heavy than the stock SR5 (or even the Limited). Before purchasing the TRDP I drove The SR5, Trail Premium, and Limited models. Considering I value off-road capability and have little time for, or experience with extensive modifications the TRDP was a no brainer. Good for a tall driver, great visibility, and the Quicksand color really stands out in traffic which in my mind makes for safer travels.
The Nitto TGs seem capable so far and I'm always surprised at my clearance. I've only smacked the skid plate a couple times. I haven't been on any serious off-road grades, but foothills and Piedmont off road has been exceptional.
Don't like:
Silly pullout cargo tray (worry about dog stepping in side wells, plus it's hard to get a liner that protects the entire cargo area).
Wish factory premium sound included subwoofer
Middle console sits a little high when you have to open the lid in transit
4Runner badge on lift gate is chromed, it really should be blacked out to match other TRDP badging.
The air scoop gives a nasty glare from a setting sun when traveling west. I'm assuming as the shine wears off it'll lessen (I hope)
