TYC replacement parts

Alternator is going out on my 2000 Limited. Dealership is closed (Sunday) I don't buy parts from parts chain stores. I only go OEM as much as possible anyway. Anyone know anything about a company called TYC? Rumor has it they make alternators for Toyota....

Toyomotorparts com has a OEM alternator for 250
Rock auto has a TYC alt for 110
Ebay OEM alt going for 500+
Dealershit im sure is about the same

Just looking at options so far im leaning towad the 250 OEM from toyo
Unless its true that TYC makes alternators for Toyota then I may go that route. Anyone know any info??

What's wrong with chain stores? Rock auto and toyotamotorparts are the same as going to kragen. Only difference is one is online.

Do the CS144 swap. You'll be glad you did.

Google "Doc's CS144 upgrade" or something like that.

I bought a rebuilt Denso from rockauto about two months ago and it lasted less than 30 days so I sent it back and bought the new TYC alternator. It runs great. Why buy reman when you can get new. What I found out about the rebuilt units is that when they test a rebuilt unit, if the regulator tests fine, they do not replace it. Even if it has 200,000 miles on it. Go new.

TYC does not build alternators for Toyota. Denso builds alternators for Toyota, as has been their main supplier for many many years.

TYC makes cheap Taiwan lights such as Headlights, Side lights, etc and its all low quality.

Do yourself a favor and buy the Denso reman, you'll be kicking yourself every 6 months when you have to take that cheap alternator back out.
