Stupidly chose to reuse the old bolts. Lesson learned.
New bolts came on Friday, went in with no issues at all.
Engine in on Sat, started up on Sunday on first try, runs great, rolled it around the drive way a bit.
Still a few things left to do, but ran out of time. Only obvious issue so far is the oil light at idle. I left the JDM sensor in the JDM engine. Possibly it's busted or different than the US one. Will need to swap them to see if it gets fixed. If not, will need to get a mechanical pressure reading.
Worst case scenario is either a shot oil pump or I messed something up when swapping the oil pickup from the 4WD engine into the JDM 2WD one...but both seem unlikely.

I'd pull the injectors from the old motor and put them in the new one. They were just rebuilt by Witch Hunter. I installed them about a week or two before you bought it. If you don't use them, sell them.

I did pull them, I just couldn't be bothered to swap them around as the JDM motor looks newer than my 2007 Mazda with 50k on it. It seemed silly to swap them when I had full confidence in the JDM ones being good enough.
I tried to keep as much stuff on the JDM motor as possible - which considering my oil sender/oil pressure issues may have been a mistake.
I have considered selling off all the spares that I'm ending up with. I do have what looks like a brand new PS pump and AC compressor. (The alternator looks new too but it's HUGE and may not fit a 4Runner.)
But before I get to selling I want to actually "finish" which means solving this oil light thing, plus when I had to drop the trans to stuff the engine back in, I took the shifter/transfer levers off only to discover that the transfer shifter seat had crumbled into tiny chunks and proceeded to fall into the transfer case. (Took my GF and her tiny girl hands with tweezers an hour to pull all those bits out.)
So yeah waiting for the parts to fix that too. Plus working on getting the antenna fixed and then got to do the LBJs because the boots got cracks....it never ends...
The irony in all this is that I specifically bought a 4Runner instead of an $700 Isuzu Rodeo because I didn't want another project to sink time and money into...
