U-bolt flip kit

So I got a u-bolt flip kit from lowrange a while ago, and finally found some replacement leaf springs yesterday. I was about to start installing when I realized that I would be loosing my shock mount by putting this kit in. I've been around the web and have seen several different solutions, but no feed back on how well they worked. Anyone here done a u-bolt flip on a first gen? Where did you put the lower shock mount?

This is a really old thread so I assume you got your answer. But you have to weld a new shock mount onto the axle. I was looking at this kit too but don't have welding abilities so I took a step back

Yeah I got my answer. Haven't done it yet though. You can weld onto the axle, but I was told by a good friends it's better to weld to the mounting plate, since you're changed how the mount the old plates don't work.

I don't quite understand what you mean. I'm ordering new mounts for mounting the shocks to the axle. Obviously the old plate wouldn't be any help for that.

Budbuilt makes a bolt on shock mount for thoes that dont have access to a welder.

This isnt my setup, its off budsbuilts website.

Hmm. That's a great idea but it doesn't look like it mounts the shock the way I need. I'm not quite ready to mount them in the upside down V manner yet.
