UCA question - thoughts and of course opinions welcome.

I've been on the fence deciding what to purchase and finally went with the JBA. Price and ease of use made it the top choice for me. :boink:

Suspension upgrade install at the end of May. Can't wait.

Looks like SPC is beta testing some newly redesigned ball joints. They have grease nipples now too.

So...thinking TC and uni-balls are out. In Co we have salt, mag chloride, and sand on Rhoades in winter and I don't want to F. with cleaning and luring during winter.

Leaning towards Camburg, then JBA, and last would be SPC. Hoping to narrow down further and get my new UCA's for Fathers Day!!! Thanks kids

Thanks for all the input. Very helpful indeed.

Ill be honest, up until this thread I had my mind made on going with the camburg balljoint uca's for all the same reasons. Longisland winters are crappy and I dont want to mess with cleaning and lubeing when its zero degrees for my daily driver.

However, the JBA's with the warranty and customer service might be the go to in this case. easily replacing the balljoint in a pinch on the fly is also very appealing. with the ability to get more caster then the camburg as well.

It would probably be #1 on my list too, but I can't get over the fire engine red!!! Sad, but true. My T4R is blue, has black accessories, silver details, and yellow OME shocks. The red would be terrible on my truck...lol. At least I can say these have only been on Yotas since Jan of 2015 when I order my Camburgs...I think. Lol

I feel like if you don't want the Red on the JBA UCA you can always take off the bushing and the ball joint and hand them off to get them powder coated or painted to your liking

Yes, but that would be more labor, more time and more $$'s. Wheelers has the Camburgs for $529.99 and they're black already! Lmao...I sound like a color snob, but it is my T4R and I want her to look good.

Yeah but they can easily be painted before installing. Ill just think of the red as a very good undercoat lol. But honestly I agree I think the color does limit his buying audience some, and in a few weeks when I decide to buy a set im going to see how difficult it would be to have them painted black or silver before getting them.

I honestly think if a few people wrote an email about purchaseing but in a different color, this guy wouldnt lose a sale over that. They can be painted anything just as easily as they can be painted red.

But it'll look cool if you can get it color matched. It probably won't cost that much since I know a guy that powder coats wheels for $60 per wheel and UCA aren't that big so it'll probably cost less

I believe wyanrard uses those as-well. I have eBay UCA's but I have the one with uniballs.

I haven't had any problems so far, other than a zerks fitting pulling out when I was greasing them. However, that was honestly probably an error with my grease gun as I've had similar problems before, damn thing just likes to grip on too much.

So the JBA and camburg arms are non adjustable right? Meaning the alignment cannot be changed on them, you just bolt them in and hope your alignment is within spec. Of all the enclosed ball joint style UCA's the spc with the upgraded greasable ball joints are the only arms that would allow for precise alignment tuning?

That is correct. The JBA have an additional 3 degrees of Castor built into them, and the Camburg have an additional 2 1/2. I like the concept of being able to adjust the UCA for helping with alignment, but there are many documented issues and failures with the SPC.

Do they still have issues? I stopped by Toytec last month and a guy claimed that these had all been fixed. Was he just trying to make a sale?

I've heard SPC has fixed all the issues and many on T4R.org think so too. However, the history doesn't look great, but as this is the only BJ Toytec offers I would say they probably good to go. Now, if your doing hard core off-roading I would go UB anyway and that would eliminate SPC altogether.

Cool -- I went with the JBA and they should land here today. Install of the whole thing (spacers, shocks, UCAs, diff drop, sway bar relocates, etc.) and some maintenance items (new sway bar bushings, grease drive shaft, etc,) going down at the end of the month

What were the faults or issues?

Have had SPC UAC's since 2011...no problems.
Even have the old style boot/joint.
I remember reading about some bushing failures and something with the ball joint.
Looks like SPC addresses the issues and makes updates at least.

I would like to see these complete failures...what would you have to do run it into a brick wall?

Like Blackworks mentioned, move the upper mount all the way out or you may get some tire rub, also more room for tire chains.
