Ultra 4 4runner build thread

Hi all,
I’ve been working on this truck for awhile now and have some pics and updates to share.
She’s still not done but I’ll be posting in here to keep everyone up to date.
So far the Roll cage, rear axle swap and deaver spring swap, Fj case, and a few other small things have been done.
Still have the SAS to be done and all my king bypasses and coilovers to be installed.
I’ll post pictures soon. I’m having trouble getting them to upload lol.

Nice build, a crawler I would assume since you added the roll cage.

Yes its a crawler but its also being built with correct geometry to be able to go fast through the desert.

I would assume a roll cage is more for high-speed trucks. With crawling you either just flop over or roll a couple times down a hill before a tree stops you whereas with racing you have a tendency to run into things or roll a half-dozen times at 50mph when you wreck.

Loving the tube work. Are you doing it all yourself?

thanks. Im not doing the tube work, im having my buddy who is a fabricator build it. Rather have a cage I know i can trust with my life lol. But its all DOM and TIG welded race legal cage with 2" mains and 1.75" lacing.

To race i will have to raise the front door bars. but i have door bars right now. Just have them low to clear the seats. Ill have to do custom door panels to get them up higher for Race specs.

I stand semi corrected. My buddy Lance used to race but after a bad crash he rebuilt and never returned to racing, today the truck just sits. I think he might have a build thread on t4r.

One of these days... when my 4th gen is even older and falling apart, I have dreams of building a desert runner more suited to the environments I like to be in.

That said, a part of me thinks it would be a better idea just to buy a used Ultra 4 buggy... the hardest decision is IFS or SA.
