Ultra gauge for trans temps

looking into purchasing the Ultra Gauge MX 1.3 mainly for the trans temp readouts. They don't have a 4R option for preprogrammed models but they do for the tacos. since we use the same engines and ??trans??, would a taco UG MX work for the 4R's? I just don't know how to program the MX for trans temp readouts. thanks in advance.

Ever figure out how to do this? I am finding a lot of mixed results...

I've been looking also. :redbrick: T4r codes are proprietary. I have not found a Taco code that works. I am currently reading up on the Can codes and hex codes. Unfortunately, the UG Blue does not give a log of the responses received from the transmission of a particular hex code.

Ie if I transmit 07E02182 I can not see what the car is transmitting back.(BTW it does not work) Also I can not specify a receive code.

I'm looking into a way to monitor trans temp also and am checking into the Ultragauge. No definitive info that I can find for 5th gen T4R's.

If not Ultragauge what are the options? I'm thinking monitoring trans temp would be a good topic under FAQ's.

ScanGauge II will do it for you, it will actual read two trans temps-for both sensors that are in trany.
I have ScanGauge II and love it- moved it to my current 5th gen 4runner from the 4th gen I had before. With updated firmware ScanGauge II also shows tires pressure and tires temperature

i use a scanguage 2 also. i prefer its simplicity, and have mine mounted above my rear view mirror so i can look at it at a glance.

i have a scangauge so i don't know the codes for ultragauge, but i've seen a thread here with the instructions for adding trans temps. try searching for ultragauge
