I was completely under the impression that R&R of the rear springs was pretty dang easy. It was not. Here is what I did, and here is what happened.
Jacked up truck, removed both rear wheels. Removed lower shock mount bolts. Removed pan-hard bolt on driver side. Removed sway bar end links.
At that point, I thought the axle would easily come low enough to pull the springs. HECK no. I would have snapped my brake line (and my diff breather tube) in half if I went that low. I ended up using spring compressors (because I had them) and it took myself and my dad to get the springs back in with the spacers. Jack under the diff, him standing on the top of the drum pushing it down and me working it back with (with the spring compressors on it).
Did I do something horribly wrong? Was I supposed to disconnect the brake line? Everyone makes it seem like a 10 minute job, and it easily took us 2 hours. Granted I broke an endlink bolt because it was rusty and seized and we had to cut it off.....but still. And we have tools and have been working on cars for years and years.
